i had a auction for gift card number of 115, and send the code through email. the buyer did a charge back and paypal just made the settlement and credit the money back to him. so i lost 115.00 and additional 10.00 fee. why paypal so mean and do this to me
next time i'm going send the a buyer a empty envelope with tracking just to make sure this dont happen.. so i can provide insurance for myself with evidence
Paypal is worthly of a class action lawsuit ... Virtual means virtual and is not allow a buyer dispute it's in there rules ...
That applies to payments from a PayPal balance not from a credit card funded payment. If someone uses the PayPal gateway and pays with a credit card then PayPal cannot argue "virtual good" if the buyer does a chargeback thru his creditcard company. The "virtual good" defense only works if the buyer paid from their PayPal balance. Don't blame PayPal, they have to follow credit card company rules.
theres no way to win this case unless i have evidence, next time i will know better.. maybe i won't take paypal and just accept money order or personal check only.
maybe when hell freezes over. paypal always backs the buyer. i have lost a few this way as well and it sucks.
sorry to hear about this.... i use to have the same problem last year..... but now i stand on top of these frauds and they cant bitch on me anymore... i mean cant chargeback from me no matter what...
If you do that your sales will probably go way down - I think it is part of business, you always have to write off a certain amount for loss - Just think how glad you will be when you buy something from someone and you want a refund.
Paypal is not there physically when you initiate the deal so they would not know who is telling the truth. They only know that the buyer pays the seller the money and as such, the seller must prove beyond a shadow of the doubt that the seller actually sends the goods. The only way in which you can do that is my a verifiable 3rd party courier service like DHL or Fedex with online tracking. I do hope that you got Paypal's prior approval for selling gift cards and have the licenses to sell those otherwise it is prohibited and you get a chance to have your accounts permanently limited. I might not be thinking straight, but I am wondering how will this protect you? Are you saying that you won't email the code to the person?
