Can we use xoom to send money to anyone in India?Like if i want to send some friend etc?

update on the xoom transfer, i recvd the following message, i registered with xoom with my indian address...

the amount was refunded to my paypal account, yup need to find another way

 

Still PayPal check (cheque) is the best way.

 

I have done 3-4 successful transactions so far. I got money to My HDFC Bank Account .

Paypal ---> Xoom ---> HDFC Bank .

 

And what sender identity (country) did you use?

 

Also in the legal forums here I jus saw the thread by Abishek who said that money transfer by xoom is illegal and non-bailable arrest warrant can be issued according to law

So withdrawing by check is the best option

 

LMFAO. That's funny. It's a remittance & not a commercial transaction, atleast that's what it's supposed to be (thus doesn't require permission from the RBI for amounts <Rs.150k). Xoom would be the entity that's liable here, not the recipient.

Well it seems xoom has become more efficient now in identifying intra India transactions.

 

i registered with xoom and had sent money from Paypal to my SBI account successfully, that was just for testing the service.. next time when i tried to send more money , they cancelled it saying " Xoom.com has refunded this transaction, as the intended money transfer has been identified as Intra-India, which is not permissible by Indian law. "

i used pickup through Instantcash as the option while sending second time .. could that be problem ?

i used indian address in Paypal billing address in both the transaction which is collected at the time of payment.

 

you cannot use xoom. Its illigal. No intra-india transfer pal.

 

actually. the account was created by my sister at saudi .. and she send it both the time.. but the billing adress at the time of Paypal payment was given the default.. which is an indian address.

it was the same both times. but the second one got denied

 

Ask your sister to create another paypal account with saudi address. transfer from this paypal to that account and then again try. You are lucky.

 

I would have.. unfortunately she dont have a CC to verify the Paypal address
