    There are scores of so called 'co-operative' banks in India who would not be providing netbanking. I guess he would be banking with one such regional co-operative bank!

    Yes, it's a co-operative bank (with a really long name) but Paypal transfers and USD checks clear quite fast with them. In fact, since I began depositing USD checks (since 2007), they have started some extra in-branch forex services.

    I'll be shifting to a private bank soon, simply for the convenience of Internet Banking.
