Hi guys, I recently wanted to renew my domain purchased from godaddy. However, when I was checking out GoDaddy using my PayPal account for payments, it was asking me for my credit card details. I have an unverified personal account with PayPal. However, when I contacted PayPal about this, they said that no merchant should ask for credit card details. I, then, contacted GoDaddy asking them about why they were asking my credit card details. It has been more then 3 days now, but GoDaddy refuses to reply to my tickets. I am from India. Please tell me what should I do? I have a good amount of $$$ lying idle in my PayPal and want to use them... Many thanks in advance.
Did you buy it with an unverified account ? You have enough balance in your account right ? I'm not sure whether they accept payments from accounts that are not backed by a credit card. E-mail them if you want. Namecheap accepts unverified paypal.
I think you don't have enough balance on your paypal or your sending limit is over.. SO you need to verify your account.
If the problem persist try to make automatic renewal for the domain that you are going to renew after login in godaddy.
Man, the only reason is godaddy always wants you to have a Credit Card on file with your PayPal. It will refuse your payment even if you have a verified PayPal but the credit card expired & removed. So just add a Credit Card to it & you will surely be able to send payment to godaddy. You can also fix it with VCC if no CC is with you. This is a common problem while sending payment to godaddy.
if the vcc or the credit card is expired you cannot use it with godaddy. Try using new vcc or renew the credit card.
I do not trust g*daddy either. They stole a great domain name off me also. I use another for registry and have my own hosting plan as well. Since I'm new here I need to be a member for a week and have 10 posts. Then I'll advertise one of my domains googlevault.com that I'm going to put up for sale. It's fresh and I have it with my hosting plan registered. I could have up to 5000 sub domains just for starters. It can be unlimited. I'll be contacting people with serious offers only. I have many projects and not enough time. Have a great day all.
I have an unverified paypal and use it for purchases at godaddy. My account is attached to a prepaid debit card but reamains unverified. Paypal wont let you pay a dime to godaddy or namecheap or anyone else unless your have your sending limit raised from zero where it starts. There are only 2 ways to do this. The first is attach a debit, credit, gift or any kind of credit card to the account. This will not verify your account but will lift your sending limit to $500 a month allowing you to use your account at godaddy or wherever. The second way is to verify your paypal account and that requires attaching a bank account to your paypal and paypal will make 2 small deposits into your account and you must verify the amount of the deposits. Then your account is verified and all limits are lifted.
It is not Godaddy which is asking for your credit card information. It is paypal. Godaddy actually requires a credit card verified paypal accounts only for any purchase/subscription/renewal. I am sure you did not purchased the same domains via this paypal account because you have not attached any CC to it yet. So, if you want to renew your domains, so simply need a credit card. Either use it directly or verify your paypal with it and then use paypal. In second case the name and billing address on the card is also an issue.
may b u were on billing page where u can either use ur credit card direct or logon to pay using paypal. godaddy is a reputed site. there is no sense they do something against the paypal rule. paying with paypal dont require any card verification. its all done by paypal itself
