Hi my fellow Indians. I am now in a toght spot regardsing my paypal verification. I have a savings account from State Bank of India. They gave me a debit card of Maestro ( a part of Mastercard). But I cant use this debit card as paypal needs a Mastercard/Visa/AMEX card. This debit card also doesnt have the required 3-digit code at its back. I am just a college student with just around 1.5k Rs in my bank. So i dont think I can even get a Credit Card. What can i do to get verified by paypal in this case?? Is there any bank which will help students like me to get a CC or Mastercard/Visa debit card I wont use VCC as I know its drawbacks
Hello Buddy, First of all, Paypal does not accept Debit cards from India. If you are not being able to get a CC, then try and get an Addon Credit Card. Incase you donot know, an Addon credit card is given to a family member, your dad most probably will be having a CC, so just go for it. If thats not possible either, try to get a CC of other banks, contact the Credit Card Agents, fill their pockets a bit and you will get a Credit Card. Alright, if you want to verify your paypal, then that means you will earn or atleast will try. Let me tell you, I had verified my paypal with a VCC too. But, that was an "HDFC Netsafe" card. There is no harm in verifying with the VCC, I had done it myself. But later, when I started earning and then I got a Credit Card too, I removed the VCC and now I have a Paypal Verified account and that too with my own Credit Card. So, maybe you can do the same. I hope it helps. Best Regards, Kulwinder.
You can apply for addon credit card if your parents or brother, sister has credit card. After getting addon credit card you can verify yourself at paypal. DON.
Its your choice then (verify yourself through CC or VCC) BTW think if they ask for CC statement in future then how you provide them one DON.
When the banks issued you those Prepaid cards, do they check your identity ? Are those cards linked to your name and address or they are anonymous ? If they do not check your identity or is anonymous then it does not satisfy the purpose of verification. Verification is the process of using a 3rd party (in this case, the bank authentication process) to determine that you are who you claim to be.
^ I dont think a bank will give any card without submitting an identity proof etc. My question is whether anyone from India has tried these Prepaid cards. Is it like the debit cards issued in india which cannot be used online?
The Indian Prepaid card , does NOT work for internet Usage, they are strictly for ATM, Shop USE, atleast this is what i was told by the customer care.[HDFC Giftcard] Anyways, I am not sure in India, but many countries, provide student credit cards to improve their credit rating and so on, but has certain credit limit (Very less compared to normal credit cards) Thank you.
