I just now called the paypal customer care.....to confirm whether i could verify my paypal account with "SBI Yuva Debit Card (VISA)", ...

and to my surprise they said YES u can untill its is under the VISA recognition BELT.

I asked them about the absence of 4-digit pin in the statement (as mentioned by cooldude_007 in the first post of this thread)... to which he (customer care guy) replied that u need to go down to ur branch and get the ELECTRONIC TRANSACTION BRIEF of that day in which the code may be present.

So no need to give ur Acc No. to anyone...:cool:

ya .... it has some work to be done..

but its better then compromising ur security of ur hard-earned money !!!

So much so for ur bumping the thread...and ur post count...

    thanks,

My advice to u buddy is:

    • walk down the street to ur branch of PNB...
    • and confirm that if the amount $1.95 (80 - 85 INR) has been deducted from ur account (check ur statment)
    • if "YES", then catch hold of the Branch Manager.....and request him to show the "OFFSHORE TRANSACTION DETAILS" of that particular day for ur account.
    • u might get the code in that details...

    Good luck,

Is it really true? I mean until this day I have seen every Indian get frustrated by not being able to verify paypal using their Indian Debit Cards!!!!!
Is it also possible using Axis Bank Debit Cards?

Just let me know one thing:
If I open an account at SBI, then which Debit Card do I need to apply for for getting verified with Paypal??

    Hi its true indeed...

I dunno about Axis bank debit cards.

For SBI, apply for Yuva international debit Card,
visit: http://www.statebankofindia.com/viewsection.jsp?lang=0&id=0,1,21,700 for the details of the card.

    Hello brother

I got this mail from ebay +

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated that from 1st Aug 2009 all online credit card transactions require an extra level of verification. Your credit card issuing banks are therefore, implementing a "Verified by VISA" or "MasterCard SecureCode" password.

You will need this password to continue transacting online from 1st Aug 2009.

    http://pages.ebay.in/paisapay/VBV.html

Can i use this VBV protected card to purchase something using Paypal

    Thank you

See to it that it is not mandatory for the service provides like ebay issuing notices as below:

as the actual RBI guidelines was issued to Banks to implement this as additional security to customers and not mandatory for the customers.

    Visit RBI Circular:
    http://rbi.org.in/scripts/BS_CircularIndexDisplay.aspx?Id=4844

    or download the circular at:
    http://rbidocs.rbi.org.in/rdocs/Notification/PDFs/Circular-1809.pdf

More over the links in left of the page: http://pages.ebay.in/paisapay/VBV.html
    Are given for credit cards....

Personal Note: I have used the same debit card in PayPal, as well as in international websites(After 1st August 2009), as i understand, it may be only applicable to indian online sites....
