I had to went through the same problem. I lost more than $500. Paypal said the buyer didn't authorized the transaction. Most of the people prefer to pay by Paypal, so what's the other alternative? Either we keep loosing customers or get scammed by some.
Great ! Today I received my asnwer from PayPal ! Now they requested my CC statement + proofs of that I've delivered what I sold ! The best part is that when user sent me that money, he wrote in comments, that job is done and everything is ok ! Why they are requesting it again ? Also, how to contact them to send some proofs ? I can't find anything related to Contact form ..
I sent PayPal an email explaining my case in the first post on this thread, and they replied to me in the most machine generated kind of way. It said something like, "The transaction came under review after PayPal thought the transfer of funds had not been authorized by the buyer..." so basically a robot answered my call for help on my case. All they told me to do was contact the police because they cant do anything about it. Its hard not to use PayPal because everyone has it and it is what most people prefer. I should just start selling my websites on little flash drives loaded up with the site files and stuff. That way I can prove I shipped it and PayPal has more protection on tangible goods lol.
I'm still a paypal user... never had any problems (and hope not to), however i am growing wearier and wearier of paypal, but due to it's popularity and versatility of it, i'm continuing to use it. When i start making transactions of a higher value (over $100) i'll look into another payment processor.
That's terrible. It seems I'm in some sense lucky that they don't allow people in my country to receive money... I use 2CO for that instead and you can receive payments via PayPal through 2CO which is probably a bit more secure method in terms of fraud. I use PayPal the only way I can, just as a buyer. Edit: Oh and as far as alternatives go I think moneybookers.com is among the best ones.
Its not Paypal who is at fault and they are not a scam. The other services such as 2CO moneybookers etc will also refund buyers where there is a dispute. Credit Cards also protect the buyer. If your running a business online and take a loss it is known as the Cost of Business. Don't like the reality get a regular job working for the man for pennies!
Agreed Sem, but clearly what happened here to the OP is not a fair refund case and while there's always a risk it makes sense to try and minimize it. So if a given service has a more balanced policy and therefore less risk involved it may be worth considering.
Actually I meant nothing to the OP. He was ripped off by a scammer who knows the loophole in Paypal.....not much anyone can do about that.... I would agree Escrow services are probably the best method for selling sites in the future.
I have found that anytime you sell via paypal something electronic like software to always back it up by mailing them a CD Copy of what was sold with a signature confirming receipt of the item. If this is still disputed paypal will usually ask for it to be mailed again with a second proof of delivery, which then leaves them not much room to scam.
Yes in a dispute, but the buyer I had did not open a dispute, instead they said the transaction was not authorized. That is a dispute but instead of the seller getting to submit evidence, etc., you get a small text box to explain yourself, and no matter how hard you try you will not win lol.
i lost only 20 $ but are money. The scammer took the money and that's all, they don't do nothing. Paypal = No Secure Transactions
what will happen if you sell digital product through a shopping cart provider like e-junkie or sell through click bank still he able to do the same and paypal will refund scammer ? now you can provide proof from the shopping cart provider is it ?
