Hi I received a payment today of $500 from a client of mine who I do not know anything about because it is a service business and was going to complete this service for them. I got an email from paypal saying payment was received and it was from paypal checking URL etc. I checked my paypal account and there was a payment of $500 but paypal put a temporary hold on the payment and it said it required my action to verify it. I have no idea because I have not had to do this before and dont want to get scammed. Thanks for any help

Log on to your account. And look around what is going on. If paypal is requiring any info - provide it.

I provided all of the information on it and it said that the payment was reversed which I guess was a fraudulent payment.

Then i suppose you can't do anything if the payment got reversed.
Only option left for you is to contact the buyer and discuss about it if he is not a scam

Yeah I contacted the buyer and let them know about it but I think they used a stolen credit card is what the problem was. I run a retail business too and we get stolens around 40 percent of the time which seems to be a crazy amount to me but I saw ShoeMoney's blog that over 65% of people paying for ringtones on his website were using stolens

You can't do anything if the is payment reversed. Paypal puts payment-on-hold for suspicious transactions.

And, its pretty obvious information provided by you was not consistent, thats why paypal immediately reversed the payment.

99% chances are they will reverse the payment so better refund yourself if you can or ask your friend to pay by some other method like eg or mb
