Hey, I just filed a chargeback on a seller for selling me a website and script which was illegal, i had to escalate the claim because he wouldnt answer my email or pm's. I instantly got the message that because its an electronic item, i cant claim a refund and the claim/dispute was closed. This is Total rubbish! I mean im guessing 10%+ must be electronic items bought with paypal. Paypal really needs to sort there support out, im out $xxx now!
If you used a credit card to fund your purchase through PayPal, perform a chargeback through them, PayPal won't appreciate it but you more than likely will get your money back (and possibly have your PayPal account locked). If you funded it with funds in your PayPal account you are pretty much out of luck.
That is absolutely rubbish. Electronic or not the seller has a duty to provide you with something of merchantable quality. What a pain in the knackers.
yha that suc*s but look at itrader next time if seller has low feedback or posts dont buy a big product from them
Many people have experienced problems with PayPal. Check out PayPalSucks.com and you'll see why. Don't trust their protection program, it doesn't protect you at all. Next time when you use PayPal to pay someone, consider paying with your credit card instead of e-transfer. It is much easier to do a chargeback through your CC company if theres a problem.
Unfortunately its too hard for Paypal to verify because the item isn't physically shipped anywhere. Its a bitch, I know from experience. If you come up with a way for Paypal to effectively track such transactions to be able to allow for reversals, I'm sure they would be grateful.
Paypal stems from its foundation as a payment processor for Online Auctions, typically eBay. With eBay, the bulk of the transactions are based on physical products and thus that is where Paypal is good at and that is where the Seller Protection is based on. That is probably why eBay bought Paypal. If you read Seller Protection https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/cps/securitycenter/sell/SellerPPOverview-outside , you will know what you are getting into. It states explicitly . You cannot claim that Paypal sucks because they already mentioned that such transaction are not covered. The person that suck would be the one you sold the site to. He should take the blame and you should also for not doing your due diligence. When you signed up, you would have agreed to the User Agreement http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/ua/USUA-outside#spp-policy , whether you read them or not does not remove your contractual consent to it. It reads
eddy2099 is absolutely right . It's in their policy and you should read that first. But I do agree that paypal s**ks badtime specially with their online customer support..
I can understand the pain. But isn't it your responsibility to check if the script is legal or the seller is selling the legal script before investing $xxx for a script. He might have shown you the demo or whatever before the purchase. You have to do the research of your own. Because you pay scammers and then you shout at paypal. Paypal is not paying me to speak from their side. I am just telling that it is your responsibility too to check the things before you buy. This can cause less chargebacks and scams.
For a second i was wondering "Paypal SUCKS ----What??? ". I lost over 50$ thanks to stupid chargebacks cause someone hacked someones paypal and when the user came to their senses they did chargeback. What are we supposed to do with such cases? Paypal is turning into money sucking machine. If there is chargeback , just auto refund and auto deduct, instead of putting the bull about the chargeback case processing fee, they do nothing in the so called processing. Still waiting for 40$ from a seller on eaby since 2004. Still nothing from paypal. Regards
I just got a nice letter from NCO , paypal collectors , the only way to survive as a seller using paypal is to sell electronic goods as the customer has no paypal power !
Haa thats what you think i think hosting is called electronics good, but still lots of hosting companies get chargebacks. Unless i classified hosting as electronic goods as wrong. Regards
Well, the only way you can be protected if the item you sold can be physically shipped by post and not just any post but one which provides tracking. Anything you deem costly, you should consider using escrow.
I think the reason they dont accept chargebacks on electrical products is that people could edit the product they were sent, most of the time quite easily, say it didnt work or something and get their money back. I, as a seller, appreciate that they dont accept chargebacks on such products.
Another sad story where paypal is involved.. True thing to me is that paypal is the best option so far we've got. I signed up for e-gold a few days ago because of a customer who was going to pay me with that. All those troy ounches and grams things are just funny. Wish I sticked to paypal only..
I never heard that sort of problem hapd with paypal and one of my friend also claimed his amount and he got it back too.
