This is the most stupid request I have received in long time. I have no idea why they need to verify my physical location when I have a bank account verified account. But they request me to verify my location although I have received many items at my address via Paypal payments. The only method they allow for this to be done is by me giving them my Credit Card number. I NEVER use my credit card on line thats' the point of Paypal. I am sure they will be hacked big time.

So how can I get around this stupid request or should I just close my PaySatan account for good?

    Very catchy title :)

Well, I won't get into why they need to verify, because you have to obviously, but to get "around" the credit card verification is buying a VCC.

VCC stands for Virtual Credit Card, (typically it will have a $0 balance, it is just so you can verify your paypal)

If you search around (not sure if it is allowed here), but you can find sellers of VCC's at reputable locations {just search: buy a vcc} or something like that.

Best of luck with your paypal account verification :)

When I signed up I was told I do not have to give a credit card of ANY type. I expect that to remain so. A VCC might well affect your credit rating, so I wouldn't try stuff like that.

PayPal will go defunct thats' for sure the question is when and how.

Their precise request is: Verify Location. Anyone else received this evil request?

How is it outrageous for them to request such a thing. The point of PayPal isn't to not require a credit card at all, but to make it easier to use your credit card online without having to provide its details to every individual/company that you do business with. If you don't want to provide this information, don't use the service. Also, VCC's are not a good thing to use unless you want to dig your hole even deeper.

Yes I have received that, it is near default.

How is VCC going to affect your credit rating? I don't understand.

Like I said in my previous post, I am not going to get into the paypal security thing, but let's just say they have a bit more than mediocre security

And really, do you think the credit cards are in plaintext? I highly doubt that... They are at least encrypted once, if not twice or three times or more.

I agree. How is the VCC going to affect your credit rating? I've used it multiple times on Paypal and I haven't encountered any problems yet. I have also added my credit card in the past onto my Paypal account to verify my location. I do not think it's a scam in any sort of way. Paypal is well secured and to ensure that my account is safe, I always change my password every month. Also, I don't save my password on my computer or anything so if someone were to hack my computer, they wouldn't be able to access my Paypal account.

No YOU are in hole buddy. There a million other payment services out there. Location Verification I have done already via the phone. NOW THEYDEMAND MY CREDIT CARD TO VERIFY MY LOCATION: THAT IS STUPID

I WOULD NEVER NEVER GIVE THOSE CROOKS AT PAYPAL MY CREDIT CARD. That was not part of the deal and that was not requested when I signed up.
    PAYpal baits and switches!

It seems you just want to bash paypal rather than use ideas and listen to suggestions that you were supplied with.

If you think paypal is trying to single you out and/or scam you, then you can go to many other payment websites, but keep in mind that without having a verified paypal, you will have a hard time doing business on the internet.

    Just my 2 cents.

Fake credit cards are not the answer. Paypal sucks and the best solution would be an alternative company. Paypal now has a strnge stranglehold on the ecommerce on the internet and they abuse that position big time. They spend all the money from us to defend themselves at court. It can't last.

Paypal has accumulated so many credit card numbers that they are the motherload for any hackers out there. They are just waiting to be royally screwed over.

Well, if you feel it sucks, don't use it. The truth is there is no alternative to paypal which is even half as good. To do business online paypal is a necessity and if you want to use their service, you've got to do what they ask you to. (unless they ask you to do something illegal)

It is not a "fake credit card".

Of course they have to defend themselves in court just like any big company because some people will try to sue paypal because they know they have a lot of money, it always happens with big companies and corporations.

Maybe you didn't understand my previous post about security... Do you think they have plain text passwords? Come on, you are throwing out ignorant responses left and right now.

It looks like you don't want to follow through with what it currently being requested and would rather continue to make useless posts. If you don't want to add your credit card then fine, don't do it. Explain in one of your posts from above where "bait and switch" would be true. True, you don't need a credit card to sign up alone, but you do need one when it comes to other things. You, just don't seem to understand how things work and maybe you would be better off not using PayPal or other similar payment processors.

This thread doesn't seem to be getting anywhere. We have already provided you with solutions on how to deal with Paypal but you just seem to be constantly bashing on Paypal. You just seem like someone who likes to constantly whine and you know what? If you don't like Paypal, THEN DON'T USE IT. I'm reporting this thread to get it closed at it's getting nowhere.

I have to agree. To the OP, there is enough good suggestions given by the members. It is a free world, if you do not like Pay Pal stop using. They are not holding a revolver against your head to use them. Thread Closed.
