Paypal: Rules and Understanding

    Hi,

I recently signed up with a premier paypal account. Am I correct in saying, there is no limit on how much funds I can receive?

What are the rules in regards to online services and protection? Example: I install a php script for someone for say $75.00/. This person decides they have the script installed but don't want to pay. So they ask for a charge back. How does this work? Would I be forced to give $75 back to paypal?

Or do I just need to show evidence that I completed the online work and should keep payment?

How do I know if another member is verified or not?

Yes, you're right about the premier account, there are no limits set to receiving funds.

As for the other matter, first stick to advance payment to make sure you receive the funds in the first place. It's best if you send a payment request to the customer and include all the relevant information in the Notes section (website address, details of the service or product etc).

Then if you're offering installation service in turn, make sure to save screenshots of various pages on the customer's site once the script is up and running so that you have some kind of proof at hand that it was there. Keep a copy of the files you worked on for at least 60 days (which is the time limit for the other party to dispute any payments via Paypal). So in the unfortunate event of a chargeback, you can provide evidence of a fair transaction on your end.

Also, any emails or saved chat logs may help sometimes, too.
Other than that, good luck :)

First and Foremost, do not get the person to do a 'Send Payment'. Take the time to generate an invoice so you can determine what details you want included in the invoice.

There is a different between someone setting the payment to you as 'Product' or as 'Service'. If they set as 'Product', Paypal may ask you to proof delivery and since you are doing a service, you be at a disadvantage. With 'Service', you just need to proof that the paid service is done. Doing a Paypal Invoice (a few clicks on your end), you can afford this misunderstanding.

As for the Verified Part, you will not be able to know prior to payment. However, after they pay you, in the email notification and online statement, it will show the person status. If it is from an unverified account, it will show as 'unverified' and verified as 'verified'. If you do not want to accept payments from an Unverified account holder, what you do is refund the money right away and drop an apologize to that person to say you only accept Verified accounts. They cannot do a chargeback or anything because you refunded the money and since it is done before you perform any work, you lose nothing except some time in settling the issue.

When you do a full refund, all the fees would be reverted and the transaction would be seen as not done at all.
