PayPal redirect?

This isn't a question about PayPal processing payments; this is a question about PayPal and what functions and features it gives. I'm selling a downloadable product with PayPal.

How would I use PayPal to deliver my digital product to buyers? I'd like to know if it's possible before I waste my time.

If I set PayPal to redirect buyers back to a download link on my site, than all they have to do is send the link to their friends. I don't want to have to manually change the file name every 30 minutes to an hour everyday.

What do other people do? How do they have their links automatically change every xx minutes? How do they use PayPal to deliver their downloadable product to buyers?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think there is a way to change the return link on paypal remotely. However, you could build a .php script to mask your url to a random string... and have paypal return to that .php script.

You can make a php script to handle the return page and make a session / cookie controlled download page which delivers download from outside the public_html page . But please remember if someone want to share the digital product there can still share it offline / outside your site.

Does anyone know where I can download a free script to change the URL of the download link so that the link changes with each download or every xx minutes? Then I can redirect PayPal to the php script so that each buyer clicks a different link and cannot share the link.

I've searched and found many "digital product delivery" scripts for paypal. They all cost money that I don't have.

Is there any free script that will work with my PayPal delivery?

If I do that the download link will remain constant and available to anyone. Buyers can share the download link.

I need the link to change but cannot find a free script to do that.

I don't understand why don't you install an open source shopping cart (virtuemart, zencart, etc.) and the free PayPal module that comes with it. This will handle everything you need in a secure and customizable way (automatically expire download links, verify payment before sending download link, etc.).
