Hey everyone, i use paypal now for quiet some time, ut never really looked at this matter much

Heres some info followed the question:

    1. i live in germany europe
    2. Standard currency = Euro
    3. Have also other currencies, to deposit money on if i recieve payment in that currency

    questions:
    1. When i recieve payment of 3 $ or so, 42 cents are taken as fee, is that normal because its sended to europe? Or wouldnt it take so much fee if i change my standart currency to dollar?
    2. if my standart currency is Dollar, would paypal take then more fee when i request to send this money to my bank account?

Any Advice of how to optimize the currency settings, so i get the most out of my money would be really awsome, thanks

No, matter which currency you use as your base, there would always be fees deducted each time you receive it. Typically is is 3.4% + 30cents (US) . If someone pays you in USD and your base currency you set in Paypal is in Euro then there is a further 2.5% foreign exchange fees. If you add another currency account in USD and one in Euro then those paying you in USD gets to your USD account and those who pays you in EURO gets to your EURO account.

However when you withdraw in EURO, those in the USD account would be tagged on the 2.5% foreign exchange fees. But if you spend them online, you would free yourself from the exchange fees.

In the end, there would always be the foreign exchange fees no matter what currency you set as your base. But to minimize the inconvenience to your customers, use a currency base which matches that of your majority customer pool. On the internet, typically the USD is the based.
