Paypal RBI Regulations Phone Call...

Just had a call from Paypal (+301) ...strange number. Anyways she wanted to confirm if I had followed all RBI regulations associated my account, I said yes. Further she wanted some account related info to confirm my identity to which I refused... Later she was like good we do say our customers not pass any info, but it's the first time we are calling Indian customers. I still refused...to give any account info like my email Id associated! In the end she thanked me for following all RBI regulations and disconnected.

Not sure if it was 100% paypal... But be safe guys n be smart! Never pass any info....

 

Yeah no one is allowed to call and ask for your info like that. Seems quite fishy to me. Normally if you see a strange number it isn't who they say they are. Did you do a search on the number? It may be on a few scam lists.

You give your email id, you have already helped the scammer with 50% data, email id is your paypal username, he only needs to crack the password.

I do not think paypal calls indian customers so this may be a scam call.You have done the right thing.

 

You should report it to paypal. If it was them they will verify it, if not they will be able to look in to it.

 

+30 is ISD phone code for greece and i am not too convinced.
If a call comes from US it starts with 1-XXXX
Paypal has offices in Singapore, India and Luxembourg.

I did receive the call from Paypal as well. Yes, it is from Paypal, I believe. They addressed me by my name and I'm absolutely sure that I havent given that particular number to anyone other than my friends & Paypal. They called me abt 3 times, as I told them to call me later as I was on travel.

Others who have received the call, just like to know what was your call about.

OP if you have Gmail id set in your Paypal account then you set up for high security Phone validation then no one can enter your gmail account even they know your password and secondly just change your paypal's email address . Don't worry mate Hacking Email not so easy if you are not Victim of RAT / Stealer .. But bro remember Paypal never calls like this . Contact Paypal customer and tell them this thing happened and change your security things .. Emails / passwords and all

 

I've received the same call a couple of days ago. They asked me for my email address and stuff, however, I did not give them any information.

 

100% scam. Be careful.

 

Today i got a call from +301 and they are just asking to update the info in old accounts.

 

As olddocks said,are these different people or Paypal itself is calling.Anyone other recieved any calls?

 

If PayPal calls anyone then they don't ask your email id associated with your account.
Beware of scammers. Read PayPal Guidelines on this.
IF PayPal calls you they know everything about you.
They know your Name, email id, PAN card,etc. If anyone asks you your email id associated then I'm sure it's 100% scam.
If you have got such call then report it to PayPal immediately and also don't respond to any scam emails.
I was stated these before as I had got a scam mail looking like PayPal.

 

Just ignore such calls and report to paypal for it.

 

I received the call to updated the information for one of the banned accounts. I used that account before long time and i'm not using that account now. So i din't update the purpose code in that account and so they are asking to update the purpose of withdrawal. That is all. Nothing to fear in this. Most probably they should be the PayPal Staff.

No one knows the Phone numbers given in our PayPal account except PayPal staffs.
