Ok,your all thinking..not more paypal questions.. I've done a search with keywords "paypal verification process" and "paypal registration process"..and all the threads are selling vcc's or the like. Nothing has what i'm after. When signing up for paypal, are the process different between australia and US? A couple of months back ,come to think of it,it was Jan 07,I started the sign up process entered my credit card(debit visa card)and my details, then was told if i would accept a phone call. Does this apply to everyone worldwide? I thought they debited your bank account first..and you put some code in.(can't remember if it was personal account or business account i was signing up for) Is the sign up and verification process different in australia than it is overseas? Is the verification process an added thing once you accept payments? surely matching my address to one my cc is attached to ,along with having a cc is enough verification??(along with name and all the other details asked for) Another question i have is, I've read on here about money is stored in paypal account. I thought paypal passes the money on pretty much straight away, but according to some of the posts here,we have to physically log onto our paypal account to withdraw/forward the funds into our bank account? I'm an australian permanent resident, new zealand citizenship-if that helps.. Thanks, arcanus PS: I think i've tried to be clear in what i'm asking.
Paypal operates differently in different countries. The Bank account verification only works in the US as far as I recall. For the most parts of the world, you need to add a credit card and use their Expander Use Program to get verified. In Singapore, you need the credit card and the bank account. They don't call me at all. As for your other question, in most countries, the credit card may be the only way to pay through Paypal and Credit cards is a payment platform rather than one which allows you to receive payment. So typically what happens is that if you have a zero balance in your Paypal account and you have a credit card attached to it and you need to pay someone, what will happen is the funds will be taken out of your credit card into your Paypal account and off to the Payee's Paypal account. Your account will continue to maintain a zero balance. Say if the amount is for $10, the Payee will have $10 added to their Paypal balance. Supposed if you have a positive Paypal balance, you can use that funds to Pay another Paypal member or if you hit the minimum sum, say US$150 you can withdraw that to your local bank or via check (depending on which country you are from). Paypal has two kinds of accounts, the Personal account and the Business/Premier accounts. The personal account used be be able to make payments and receive funds from another paypal account (only if they pay using existing paypal funds). Late last year, Paypal changed the rules and Personal account can receive up to 5 incoming Credit Card Payments a year. A Business/Premier account can receive and send payment funded by credit cards or existing paypal balance. The way to accumulate a paypal balance is for people to pay you. In the US, I believe they can fund their paypal account through their bank account. This does not apply to the most of us. I hope I am not confusing you there.
I think i follow. What does the expander use program entail? (verification procedures) Also..would it be possible to open the account using the debit card, then later entering it as a credit card? It's the only card i have linked to the account i'm intending to use for online transactions. All i want is to enter my details and be signed up. I might give this another go soon, using paypal au..I havent tried paymate(Don't particularly want to,becuase paypal is more widely recognised-for when i start selling )
I believe in Australia, the Expander Use Program requires you to add a credit card then verify it by entering the 4 digit number which would be listed in your credit card statement. You did mentioned that the extra step would be to accept a call to complete the entire process. Basically what Expander Use Program means is that it is the process to get you verified. If your Debit Card is a VISA or Mastercard issued then I would believe it can be used. Make sure that you have access to the debit card statement because you need it to extract the 4 digit code. I actually suggest using a Credit Card because Paypal may time to time place your account into audit and have you send your credit card statement and utility bill to verify. They basically trust that everyone provides valid information during sign up. Paymate sounds like Playmate but any case..
hrm..that would put a spanner in the works..I don't want an actual credit card. I like my debit visa card nicely. I'm gonna go dig up a bank statement to see if i can even find the 4 digit number. .... paymate is another paypal australian version.. there is paypal.com.au and paymate.com.au paypal owns paymate,..which i guess ebay does now too.. thanks
