Long story short, i had recieved a payment from a person I was talking to and he was asking if he could send me payment via paypal and then i send him money since he was on business trip in Egypt (and dont take paypal).

So he sent me 1 payment first, confirmed it, he gave me an address and told me when i could send it. I told him etc.... So basically he sent me money and i keep some of it and send him rest.

Well, after transaction was complete, phone rings,

Hi, this is such and such from Paypal, regarding the payment you just recieved, right then and there I was like Great! (in my head - FAKE!)

Well, she said it was undergoing investigation, i was like oh okay. Thanks. Basically put a hold on the money. Now i already had money in there so im guessing they thought all of it was sent from him.

I didnt know it was fake you know, he obviously gotten the password from somone and i know its hard to hack into pp, but darn, i was screwed. So now, paypal screwed me over putting me in negative of $-xx,xx.

I wrote them like 3 times regarding my negative balance, i recieved an email, saying "You should restore your negative balance before you have some options withdrawn" I was like wtf, you took money from me without tellin me and i didnt know it you know.

So now, i dont know what to do? I called no answer, email, no answer.

Out of answers now. Thinkin about another call perhaps.

Uh sure. I got payment, but payments were bad, went under investigation and was held. Paypal took the money back that was in my paypal, yet puttin me in negative.

Hmmm. I read your initial post and it definitely sounds very fishy. So basically, there was no goods exchanged but rather a funds transfer/exchange deal. I think that is pretty much the problem with such a deal when someone promises some kind of incentive to exchange money from one account to the other. I take it that the other party wanted you to forward the money to him via e-gold ?

I am really not sure what you can do. The only thing that you could do is to top-up your paypal account and bring it back to zero balance. And take that as a life lesson not to deal with people who may appear to be shady.

It does have the making of the nigerian scam. If it appears too good to be true, it is most likely be scam. Sorry about what you have been through. Sorry, I think you cannot blame Paypal on this one. Blame the one who cheated you.

Well basically its my fault, but i figure everything was legit from him accessing the account so i was like okay, fair enough.

He wanted me to send him a money order. Also, it was like about $xxx.xx in total.

But i dont understand why paypal took money from me too though?

If he pays you via Paypal and the amount is disputed, the money from your account is transferred back to your account.

When did you send the Money Order ? If it is still not cashed in, you can take the stub or the counterfoil or copy and bring it to the bank you got the Money Order and have them stop payment to it. I am sure there are charges but it will stop the other party from getting the money and you should be able to get a refund from the bank minus some charges.

It could have been his account but he probably just did a dispute which he probably claimed he never authorized the payment he paid to you in order to get you draft the money order.

Well, i didnt send no money order, it seems like he stold someones info and it came back on him thus puttin me in the bad. But eh, im not sure, now, i have a negative balance and im trying to get it out the way now.

I dont think it was his credit card, more less someone elses account he somehow got the info from.

So did I get it right, he pays you with someone elses paypal account and then paypal did a chargeback to recover the illegal funds from your account. If that is true then you should not be out of any funds unless you withdraw the money and spent it already. Otherwise it should not be a negative amount.

I mean it is like he pays you $XXX.XX into your account, paypal took back that same amount from your account, you should just be in the zero balance region. If you took your cut out already then just pay Paypal back the outstanding and be done with it. There should not be any loss to anyone but maybe just mere inconvenience.

I initially thought that he paid you and you send him the money order so you are out of pocket for the money order.
