I have verified my paypal account with a bank account and have money setting in it... yet when i try to buy something (below the amount i have on my paypal account) it says i have to verify my account with a credit card. Why is this?!? can i avoid it?
Why don't you give them a phone call and sort out your issue quickly as only they can guide you further for this IMO. You can also email them about this but it will take sometimes very long time. DON.

Yes i think you gotta verify your account with a credit card to buy things. and it would be better if you call them and clear out things.
if you give the right and complete information, their helpline will be helpful, just prepare everything before you make a phone call such as bank account details and credit card too.
Different countries have different methods of verification. Like in the US, Germany and Australia, you verify your account through a bank account while most of the rest of the world, you need to verify using a credit card.
Which country are you from ? Why not just go to your bank and apply for a credit card. If you are not from India, a Debit Card may even work provided it comes from VISA or Mastercard.
Paypal is asking credit card details while purchasing. You should be verified first by your credit card.
You need to have yourself verified using your credit card. Another option would be is to use a debit card. Having your bank account verified is different. You can however withdraw money from your paypal and have it deposited on your verified bank account. So if you are going to purchase, you need your credit card verified through paypal. Bank verification is only good for withdrawing your money from paypal, not for paying.
The only problem is though, sometimes people's credit are so shot, or, they don't even have "credit established" in order to get a credit card or debit card. Then they're really "screwed" (sorry for language)... I should know, because my credit is shot pretty bad, and can't get any cards to do anything. Then what is there to use for another option, alternative? Well, except trying to get your credit back on track, which could take years! LOL!
well im 18... dont have a credit card, and have no desire to get one. Does alertpay require a credit card to purchase or can you just use the money in your account? oh and from US
If you are from the US then you just need to verify with your bank account. Have you completed the Expander Use Program as yet whereby paypal makes two small deposits to your bank account and then you just type the deposit amounts to your paypal account which will verify your account. Basically if you intend to buy anything online, you probably would need to have a credit card. It also makes travel a lot easier too and frees you from carrying loads of money.
