Paypal has a PR0 yet is ranked #1 for "online payments" #3 for "Pay Online". Does this finally answer the question of the importance of PR? I find the only roll PR does for me is get other people who don't understand it to link with me IE won't link to PR0.

PR is only a very small part of determining your rank in the Google listings.

Right...it's just displayed as PR0 because of how they serve up their pages.

I know PR doesn't mean a lot for ranking, but I find it hard to believe that a site with that much popularity doesn't have any PR. Any thoughts on why no PR?

In simple terms. You see a special page that the spiders don't neccessarily know about. Thus it isn't ranked.

Google's toolbar doesn't request PageRank data when you are on a secure site.
