Hi All, I just installed the Paypal Plug-in that I guess generates different cc numbers. Can the number it generates be used for more than one company or service online and offline? Can I use the number offline to make an over the phone payment for a bill? Also, these cc numbers don't have the cash back program like the Paypal debit card, right? I got used to getting that cash back, just checking. If I know the company or service is safe, I should still be good in just still using my Paypal debit card number to get the cash back, right? Any help or suggestions? This is for USA, btw. Thanks! Jen
Hi Jen - Thank you for downloading the PayPal Plug-In. Yes, the plug-in generates single and multi use secure card numbers that are meant to be used at one merchant or website. Secure Cards are designed to protect you from unauthorized charges, so the number can only be used at one merchant for security reasons. For both single and multi use secure card numbers, the first merchant who charges the card is the only merchant who can charge the card. You can use secure cards offline or over the phone, as long as the vendor you’re purchasing from does not require a physical card to be present. The secure card numbers generated are debit card numbers and are not supported by the cash back program. Therefore, you may choose to use your PayPal debit card to earn cash back on non-PIN transactions. Charlotte Hill, PayPal Corporate Communications
That's great. Can you use this service with a personal account or do you have to have the business or premier account set up to use the unique virtual Credit Card numbers? Can you do this if you don't use the debit paypal card?
Eh, little of topic, but if you really are from PayPal can you tell those slackers to improve their system. Cheers
Yes, although the answer I received is excellent, if Charlotte represents Paypal there seems like a lot of other questions or assistance that can be given for many other forum members here. Not sure why my post was the only one answered? Thanks
It was probably the only one answered because she would probably be bombarded with questions or nonsense. She also assumingly wouldn't get paid for giving support on here.
That's true, I just found it odd in registering here to answer one question. Perhaps it's common for paypal reps to look at forums for feedback? Either to improve their services and/or to fix any loopholes. Regardless, I appreciated her reply. Looks like paypal is watching....
Its too bad that it is for US people only ..They should have done it for all people around the world.
