today i got a random 1 cent payment is this a new way to spam because if you have a business account and are getting 1 cent payments this is a bit suspicious and it fills up your account history plus paypal send's you a email telling you you got money

Edit : just checked the fee yes it was 1 cent so i got 0

    thats 100% fee

yes this is suspicious. paypal should have some policy whether the buyer wants to accept payment or no.

Where did you get the payment from? Did the subject/notes have any promotional or suspicious content that you're marking as spam?

That is someone trying to get your products for a cheap 1 cent. Your paypal link is not secured.

Yes. That is probably the case. You need to encrypt your paypal link or better use agent site like e-junkie to manage your downloads.

its probably a stolen account or something and someone just changed the info and is trying to get free downloads or something from your site. thats what some do. If you give out instant downloads and its not encrypted they will look at the script and change the payment from lets say $30 to $0.01 so that paypal will see that you got payment for the product and automatically give them the download link.

Also look out for people who will pay 100 yen instead of $100. It has happened to people too. 100 yen is less than $2 maybe even less than $1... I forgot?

This is an old trick, easily solved by encrypting your buttons/links.
