Paypal Payment Issue - What's the worst that can happen?

    Hey guys,

So not too long ago I was scammed out of $6,000. I have no idea how it came to this because I actually did the work, provided all the proof to the Paypal claim specialist that I did the work and it was high quality, and they still ruled in the other guy's favor because "it's a digital good."

The refund brought my Paypal balance to -$2,000 and I have a $3,000 outstanding credit with Paypal Credit (Bill Me Later).

I refuse to pay this amount because I did the actual work and this is bullshit. They have been contacting me and sending me mail for weeks now, but I have been ignoring it.

So I guess my question is, what's the worst that can happen? Will this hurt my credit if I continue to ignore? Any help would be great!

You'll be getting their mail for as long as you live. LOL. It will probably go like this: PP will try to collect the debt on their own. If didn't work, the debt will be sold to some debt collection agency which will continue sending you letters. Keep in mind that at some point they may offer you to settle the debt for a fraction of what you owe. Do that. Call that debt collection agency and ask them to send you something in writing stating that the debt settlement will be final and if the debt is paid off they will stop trying to collect the rest of it. Once you have that in writing, pay them whatever is due and it'll be over.

Yea the letters and phone calls have been annoying. Honestly, if this was a legitimate case of me being in debt, I would have no issue paying them what they are asking. But this is ridiculous and I will continue to ignore everything.

They'll send it to collections and/or a collection attorney most likely.

I'll just play devils advocate here, not really disputing that you did the work and were scammed out of the money when the buyer disputed the charge. But it's not like the money was virtual, paypal ended up losing a few thousand dollars on this transaction. They have to abide by a number of rules, most of which are set by credit card issuers, on how to handle disputes.

If this buyer was in your area, you can likely take them to small claims court. If you can show proof of all of the work and that they scammed you out of $6000, it wouldn't be a difficult case to win.

I'm also facing payment issue for Indian payment.

I recently got payment from Israel, that was working very well.

I use Transferwise.com as an alternative. It works very well.

P.S. I'm not affiliate or promoter of Transferwise but I have personal experienced.
