    Hi,
    I'm looking for some advice,

On the 27th a user on this forum bought 3 sites I was selling for $280USD, after transferring all the domains and sites over I received an e-mail from PayPal saying they are reviewing the payment and have put the funds on hold. I have been sending PM's, E-Mails to the buyer but I have received no reply and the funds are still limited in PayPal.

What can I do? What If the buyer never bother's to reply?

Contact paypal and explain to them about it,

If they do not listen, they are wasting money and ruining lives and should be reported to the IWF.

    scribby,

In my experience this happens when their was fraud involved with the purchase. Most likely someone had access to that paypal account without permission and used it to make a purchase. It is very common. Most of the time the person even has access to the account owners email address.

The buyer has 64 iTrader feedback all positive on this board, ah its so annoying I needed that money.

I think ill wait a few more days before contacting PayPal, they have decided it needs reviewing and the only way I'm going to get the money back is if the buyer verify's the transaction was made by him/her to PayPal.

You can file a complain with ICANN. They will lock the domain (to prevent it being resold or NS changing) until it is resolved. If you have proof of the purchase (Screenshots) and proof of the chargeback etc, you should get the domains returned to you.

    Start here: http://reports.internic.net/cgi/registrars/problem-report.cgi

Surely the host would be able to take the site down, because it violates the DMCA. But they say it does not violate the TOS. This just gets more and more frustrating. Not only does the buyer have all my sites and domains but he/shes also making money from ads.

Well I received an e-mail back. proxbrowse.com complaint received a reply about the content of a website not being under their control (Obviously they didn't look over my complaint properly). theproxytopsite.com however is going to be transferred back to me :) I'm going to do another complaint for proxbrowse.com and see if I can get the same result.

Eh, now I just wish I backed up the websites before I sold em.

Wow, this sucks. Are you sure that the person on this site was scammed as well? Someone could have phished his email or Paypal account and used it to buy the domains. After all, with a 64 positive iTrader, it seems unlikely he is a scammer.

Contact the registrar where the domain currently is..after being transferred..the registrar has the right to lock or suspend the domain name till the registrars compliance team figures out what needs to be done..I faced a similar issue once..the registrar was ResellerClub and they took about 15 days to investigate..but after that, they were convinced about the authenticity of my request amd returned the domain back to me

This is most unfortunate. I feel terrible for you! How long after the payment did they say it was on hold? I agree that the user may have been scammed as well instead of being the one scamming. Its terrible you will never know. Perhaps with purchases of a certain amount there should be a waiting period before turning over the domains to protect yourself, say 48 hours or however long you deem appropriate. Its like getting a cashiers check and taking it to the bank, they call and verify the funds before giving you a dime and then they only release a certain amount to you until it is clear the funds are not fraudulent. I hope everything works out for you!

I have the members contact details, e-mail, phone number, name, address and country. None of these match the PayPal account so its quite obvious the member does not own that PayPal account. Most of that iTrader was from writing articles (selling a service). I'm sure if his account was phished he would try to contact DP in some way to have his account suspended or regain access to his account.

PayPal placed the hold around 6 hours after the transaction.

From now on when I sell a site on DP I'm going to have the buyer contact me via his PayPal address before I continue with the sale so I can verify the buyer does own the PayPal account.

I got theproxytopsite.com back, but I no longer have the site files. I'm in the process of trying to get proxbrowse.com back and I have the site files for this site so if I can get it back I can sell it again. Sucks because I made a custom theme for theproxytopsite.com which took me hours to complete.

Wow, that's really rough, and I am sorry to hear how much trouble this has caused you. Hopefully, this member (if he purposely scammed you, which seems more likely) will be banned before anyone else is effected.

Good luck getting your second domain back!

It is good that you have got both domain names back.

Good luck in setting the websites back up again and have a good new year.

I'm glad you got your sites back. What does someone do with the site after they purchase it? How do they get a return on their money?

I have problems with paypal all the time. They always want this same document, scan of ID, and lot of things. The worst scenario is that You will wait 6 months... than They unlimit Your account, but Your money will be freeze all this time on You PP account. The best way is send money on Your bank account when You receive it (registred in paypal) and than to Your personal account. They can't touch Your personal account.

Anyway... lot of problems with paypal.
