Paypal = no protection for sellers!!!

I have been using PayPal for 2-3 years now, and have been satisfied until now. Recently I sold a website. The buyer paid me, I accepted the payment. I sent them the domain, database, skin, and everything else. Then I go to work. 4 hours later I return to my computer to find that the funds have been put on hold and paypal is investigating the transaction. I have no idea why?!?! So now I have no money for the website, and I have no website. there is no protection for sellers.

No protection for buyers outside of ebay also. Got scammed a number of times and they are just letting the scammers go.

As a verified PP seller, I guess that if I snail mail the .com info, the push info, etc, we'll be covered.

For a lot of my products what I do is take a picture of the item being packaged and then the item packaged with the postage clearly visible in the shot - This has got me out of about 2 disputes now :)

How much was the transaction for and did you specify what the payment request was for like calling it XXXX.com? Sometimes it's paypal and sometimes it's the buyer. At the very least you want to eliminate paypal by taking as few chances as possible.

It was for $39. The buyer sent me the payment, I accepted it. Then it got credited the amount. The next thing I now I see an email saying:

"A review of recent transactions indicates that you may have received an unauthorized payment. This means that the PayPal account holder may not have authorized the payment you received."

So i assume paypal did this? Or maybe the buyer said it wasnt authorized? In any case I have an email from the buyer saying the payment was sent. So I will most likely win the case since i have proof that the buyer knowingly sent money to me.

It would be Paypal which states this. The account which is sending you the money may already have been under investigations or the money was sent from a stolen credit card, bank account or paypal account.

PayPal can hold funds for a number of reasons. Without knowing the reason it is hard to comment on.

Well just a little update, they buyer sent me a PM and said he disputed the transaction because he couldnt get the skin to work. So now he has my domain, database, etc. and I have no money at all. He uploaded the skin wrong and couldnt get it to work, so he assumes that he can just take his money back and keep my site... He is probably 12!!! Oh and I found out he got banned. How awesome.

I wonder if what to do with this one because the one who pays me have not replied to me or send me a message he just reverse the payment. He has not contacted me at all and he has not complain about the service rendered. He just place some shipment address on his payment though which I have done is a blog articles.

I would like to asked if you have resolved the case already redtarget and what you have done to settle the problems you have with paypal??? Anyway I do agree with you that paypal has no protection with its seller.

Hate to tell you but you wont be covered by the protection scheme anyway. It only applies to tangible goods and then you need to submit proof of posting.

Well I think I am going to win the case. PayPal is reviewing the transaction. The buyer claimed that he did not authorize the payment to me, but I have Pm's and emails where the buyer clearly states that he sent the money to me, etc. So I can prove that he did intend to send me the payment. If PayPal goes in his favor I am never using PayPal again, because that is just down right wrong.

i too had a bitter experience with paypal as a seller, it was a Credit Card chargeback by a stupid buyer who kept the thing and filed a chargeback and since the sell was on internet(virtual), i had no proof to justify it, so i ended up loosing the transaction amount + 10 fee
