PayPal: No More Transaction Fees

Discussion in 'PayPal' started by Matt Ellis, Jun 5, 2009.

Alas, the time has arrived. PayPal have listened to their customers and decided to remove the fees they charge for transactions. But, it could become a controversial decision should users abuse the options they are given.

Read the rest of the article at: http://blogte.ch/web-internet/paypal-no-more-fees/

I think this is great :D

Have a look on Send Money, if there is a personal tab, then you have no fees through there. :)

    Its not a good news:

Therefore, if paypal discovers that you were selling and marking payment as personal, they may suspend your account.

Also, personal account holders are also required to pay the fee, if it's a commercial transaction or a cross border transaction.

    revised paypal fee

Yeap not a good news to all personal account holders, guess it's another "good reason" for us to upgrade to premier/business account.

Also, in the fee policy 4.1, PP says that personal account can only receive up to 500 bucks a month if senders make payments for good purchase/services/etc, is that for real?

Apart from paypal taking actions against your classifying commercial transactions as friendly, I doubt very much if your buyer would readily agree to pay you under this segment as it might rob him of any charge backs in the future...if the two of you are dealing for the first time!

I think the risk of getting completely robbed off receiving personal payment facility would be daunting for anybody to take such a risk, unless of course the concerned two parties are very familiar with each other! :)

I mean it really doesnt resolve the ebay sellers fee problems, their still the same, when an ebay seller sells an item, they will be taken through checkout and by paying through here which about 99% of ebay buyers do, a fee will be taken out of the sellers payment. So really i dont see the good in it for Ebay sellers :(

It does look impossible for them to catch on the face of it, but you need to have fully trustworthy buyer and not too many payments coming in, with all marked as personal!

What if buyers have a 'business' account and are sending personal payments ? That should be a red flag for Paypal to catch you, isn't it ?
Is fee lower in case of premier accounts ? I have both personal/premier account which one should I use for lower fees ? Or should I just switch to some other payment site ? What is everyone else doing - Living with it ?

If you send too many, they just add their charge. i.e. more than a couple.

I sent some money to my wifes paypal account on 2 occassions, now it doesn't allow me to send the money without charges to anyone.

2.9% + $0.30 USD per transaction if you receive payment from US accounts and 3.9% + $0.30 USD per transaction if you receive payments from Non-US accounts, rates slightly lowered if you managed to receive more than 3,000 bucks in the past month, if I'm not mistaken.

So what's the use of personal account now besides being able to receive the "personal transfer"?

I guess OP should change the thread title to "PayPal: Yes More Transaction Fees"

If PP start imposing for fee at the personal account.
Then what is the different between biz and personal account?
