Paypal name problem, last name is an Initial.

I have an Indian paypal account. In that my name is specified as Ashok Kumar. But in my bank account, my name is specified as Ashok K. That is, my last name is mentioned in Initials only. As you might know, this is a common practice in south India, especially Tamil Nadu (to mention last name only in Initials). Now paypal specifies that the name on the bank account must be the same as the name on the paypal account, so in my situation will the money transfer (from paypal to the bank) be a success or not? Please advice. Thanks.

best it to make a call to paypal at their toll free no. using skype or better change the name at your bank.

your paypal name and your bank account name should match,otherwise your payment not accepted .

My suggesion is close the present account and create new account with your name.

That means a difference between kumar and k ..I think there is no problem ..but not sure ..

 

I think there won't be any problems in that just add the bank account in PayPal and if it is added sucessfully and then there is no problem.

 

Thanks for the quick response guys. Lot of south indians use their dad's name as their last names, so yes my last name is kumar (in my paypal account). But K in my bank account.
I'm able to add the bank account, but only the first name in the form remains editable. The last name in not editable (it remains Kumar). In india I don't think this is a problem, i think i have never had a problem and have interchangebly used both Kumar and K. But not sure about paypal soon. If anybody has had any experience with names in paypal please advice.

 

i also live in south india (tn). Just because of this name mismatch problem with paypal, i specifically wrote a written request to the bank to use full name when opening account. I didnt allow them to use initials.

I was having the same issue. But what I've done is, giving the same name as my bank account has with paypal.

Your name must be exactly matched your bank account's name. Contact paypal to change your name, don't send email because they will respond very late.

 

Only last name ..first name dose not matter ..

 

It is better to Change the name in your bank account.I think it is foolish to change your name in your paypal account.You my have to give an application to your bank in order to change it.

Since all other documents(like driving license,id card etc) have your full name, it is better NOT to change your name in your paypal account.

Eevn , i m facing with same problem and solution is very simple,just create another paypal and transfer all funds to your new account .

 

But you also must contact paypal to close your old account so that you can add your old credit card or your old bank. I think contact them to change name is easier

do you think that contacting paypal will solve the issue? Will they really change the last name? Any body have successfully completed a name change by contacting them?

Yes.I have changed my last name by contacting them.I used the short form of my last name when I created my paypal account(back in 2006 and was not serious about paypal )

They changed my last name without asking any documents.

Man! There is no problem with that.

My name in paypal is 'Srikanth X' and my name in SBI is "Xxxxxxx Srikanth'. My bank account is successfully attached to paypal and I've been withdrawing to it since 1 and half year.

 

It should match. Name on paypal account and Bank account.
