paypal lost case

Just to let you know I sold a wordpress theme over here, buyer contacted me through PM's. He offered me 150 for it, I told him someone else already bidded 350, then he overbidded. I sold the wordpress template to him.
Sent him the files, received the money, and after a day I get notified he opened a case. I showed paypal screenshots of the pm's, explained the situation but I lost the case.

Does this happen a lot? What should I do in the future

Can you be more specific as to what were the reasons put forth by the buyer for cancelling the deal?

Might be...that his reasoning was more convincing than yours...

I recommend you to use Webmoney,Liberty Reserve or MoneyBookers for payments like that, because paypal is like Payloser nothing more.

Paypal told me: the buyer was not aware of a sale which is redicilous.

    they asked me:
If you have already shipped goods, please provide PayPal with the following information:

    1) Tracking Number of Shipment
    2) Shipping Company Used
    3) Shipping Insurance Information (if used)

but how could I give that info, since there's no shipping info with selling wordpress themes. I

I heard this case a lot, people are scamming by requesting their money back to paypal and tell them they have been scammed.

I think the solution is once you get the funds, cash it out, don't wait

I like the digital contract idea.

For something small, I would not worry, but for that amount of money, then I would say that a digital contract would be a good idea.

You can not prove that you have sold any of the digital goods online because you do not have any invoice or details. But in these cases you can be safe by mentioning that the good was an intangible goods and hence does not require any physical shipping.

First of all escalate the complain and then use this information

    Tracking Company: Non Tangeable Item
    Tracking Number: Non Tangeable Item

thanks mentos, I've been lookin for signing up to 2CO. I saw you need to pay a little subscribe fee, but if it protects you from such scam it's a pleasure to pay a one time fee

    Stil, an interesting case.

Paypal should protect its clients better but, i guess not.

They only play the middle man, so i guess that another aproach could be tried.

NEVER do that, they go after your bank account/backup funding if there is no funds in your account.

Or you're me and the .1% that doesn't win.

I sent someone from DP money for a product I didn't receive and PP wouldn't issue a refund. I called, spoke to them, and sent proof that the person ran off with my money and they weren't inclined to pay attention.

I did hear from them today via email saying that now they were investigating the persons account. As much as I'd like to think that will stop them from scamming others I would still love to have my money back.

Wish I'd thought up the digital contract idea :)
