PayPal Just Tick Me Off

I get a call about 20 minutes ago from PayPal customer service. They said they were reviewing my account for suspicious activity. They said I have many small dollar amounts being transferred in and out each day since October 2006. Then they ask me questions about the website I have in my profile, which is resellersetc.com. After telling them I no longer use that domain and it is expired and it used to be reseller web hosting and services, they told me I needed to give them at least one website that I receive payments for services through. I don't even use websites for my advertising services. How in the world do hey consider 2-3 payments from $8-$50 per day suspicuo activity when sellers on ebay receive 100's of times more? And how can they tell me that I have to update my profile with a valid website that I do business from. So anyways, after I told them I don't have a website for my marketing services, they told me I need to build or get one made and update my profile with it. Sorry to rant, but that just ticked me off a bit.

Well not a long time ago this happened to em aswell..

I made around 50 dollars a day and sold something for 2000 dollars.

The next they they limited my account due to suspicious activity i did all the steps they asked and called them around 5 times a day so they would expedite my thing and its fine now!

They are just being careful. My credit card bank does the same thing too when I make transactions out of the norm and they will contact me to verify it. This is to protect the account holder and also to eliminate any possibly of fraud.

In any case, if you have an advertising service, you will have some kind of promotions for people to know about it and find out how to pay you. If you post in forums then give them the forum links as references. If it is through ebay auction then give them the ebay links. If it is in the local papers or magazines then scan that and send that to them.

There has to be some form of online or off-line advertisement which you use to promote your services, tell them the source and be done with it.

Nothing to be pissed off about, if you have a personal account and moving cash in and out, what does that tell you? Try getting or upgrading to a business account and make up some web page with a general description of what your business is.

I never had a problem with PP before, sold and bought websites for over 2k, even when I had disputes my account was never frozen or limited.

Yea, I have already told them. I was just ranting because they told me I have to have a website and seemed so unprofessional. They actually said "I see you have a debit card and use it every once in a while".... lol, of course I do. That's what it's there for. I understand being careful and protecting the customers account, but they asked me the strangest questions. My guess is that the person who called me was new or had been distracted. I'm over it now. I was irritated most of all because they said they would freeze my account if I didnt update my profile with a website I do my business from. I guess I will just build a basic site to make them happy.

I do have a business account. It's been a business account for about 10 months now.

PayPal Is extra cautious about the security I guess. What if you are getting in/out money on daily basis. That kind of sucks, when things like this happen. PayPal should at least build a more proper solution to track users actions/transaction.

This happened to me either. I called PayPal and the guy who talked to me was so nervous whether I am going to kill him. That was totally unprofessional.

Becuase of increased fraud, that kind of thing is happening more and more. I know that they look at me funny every time a chargeback comes through for $1 and normally just becuase someone changed their mind. Ultimately, it's one of those things you have to live with to deal with them.
