Paypal Issue. I'm freaking out!!

    Okay,

I have a client who is going to send me money for a site I sold here. Now, I don't think he's trying to rip me off (and I in no way think that he is at this time).

He said he paid, but I got no verification e-mail, which I checked in FAQ. And my history is clear (I sent him a screenshot).

I think he may have mispelled the account.

    2 questions:

    1) Does he lose that money?
    2) It's my first time actually using paypal and I'm wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else?

If he checks his account and he misspelled something I believe it will show the money has not been picked up. He should then be able to cancel that transaction and re-do it.

    Okay good.

I don't want him losing any money. And I really want to get this whole sale over with :).

You can also ask him for the Transaction ID. Then search for that and if it doesn't show up, E-mail PayPal with the ID and his PayPal E-mail address, if he still thinks it went through.

I hate PayPal but in your case I would start to be suspicious. If he sent it to someone else he can complain to paypal and they will reverse the charges.
No that hasnt happened to me but I have been scammed on paypal by people ordering something and paying for it and then claiming their account was stolen. Happened two times out of about 30 (est) paypal transactions. After Paypal told me to bend over again I said forget it and havent used paypal since. Most people prefer to use a real credit card anyway.
    Good luck

Well, it's a site so I haven't given him any user/pass. I don't want to turn this into making this guy look bad because I have NO proof of that.

Thanks Nintendo, if it wasn't a mispelling I'll ask that.

Usually when this happens to me it's that the person didn't click the confirmation on the last page. He may THINK he sent it. Tell him there is a mistake he has to work to correct it. It's his fault unless you gave him the wrong email address for paypal.

I haven't done this for a long time but doesn't PayPal still offer the request payment function?

If they do might it not be a better way to handle future transactions?

I will try to look that up and follow up this post for the benifit of others who follow this thread.

Assuming you provided the correct details, it's his problem, not yours. I'd also be very wary about such a transaction. I hope you masked out information from your Paypal screenshot.

I am very glad to see things worked out. A similar situation happened to a buddy of mine a few months back.
