I sold some domains back in Ocotober, and everything was fine. Last month that person filed a credit card charge back saying that it wasnt an approved charge or anything like that. So i was annoyed, but provided paypal with info, and a month past. Last week i got an email saying that the charge back was reversed, and the money was in my account again. So i was happy and trusted paypal again. Little bit ago i logged into my paypal and noticed half my money was missing out of my account, and saw in the recent activity something called "PayPal Balance Adjustment". then i noticed on the chargeback reversal that it was cancelled and the dispute was closed. Now i never got an update emails or anything about this. They just did it without telling me anything and without providing me with any emails/updates. NOTHING. Also the entire “balance adjustment†was more than the stupid chargeback was, which makes it even more ridiculous. So I sent them an email, and have yet heard a reply. I have deleted my debit card from it, and am depositing the rest of my money into my bank account. When that is complete im going to delete the bank account info and then terminate my account. This is such bullshit though, I’ve been a verified active paypal user since 2005 without a single problem, and have probably generated them a lot of money via my domain selling, and other deals I’ve done with people. And again have never had a single problem. And they are going to treat me like this? It’s such hell that this paypal cannot be trusted, and is completely un safe. Now what if I went to use the money that appeared in my account the other day ? It could have caused a huge amount of trouble if I went to use it and it wasn there, and they charged my bank account, which then again might not have been there, and I had a lot of over drawn changes and all types of things because paypal didn’t feel the need to alert me that they were screwing me. This sucks more because now ihave to find a much better/ and safer way to sell things online. Maybe I have to start doing it the slow way via western union or some other weird thing like that. Man paypal really pissed me off. AHHH! Does anyone know anything about this? Why did paypal take more money out of my account then the chargeback was, and why would they even do a reversal on the chargeback, and then cancel it, witout alerting me? Total hell.
Hmmm , may be the domain buyers have charged back by using their credit card company. You can't do anything , its unsafe to sell domains via paypal buddy unless you have a reseller account to remote controll them.
You are not alone, have you checked youtube for paypal scams? it is amazing how many put up their case there.... just for your information. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lr_7--e5A1g&feature=related
I also have problem with paypal. But I need them. Hate them but need them. Everybody is using them. If there is another choise, I would move from paypal
Well its not so much that they screwed me by allowing someone to do a chargeback, but my problem now is that they sent me an email, and had the status of a "reversal" up and gave me all the money back. and then to randomly cancel it and take even more money out of my account without letting me know..... ah
Unfortunately PayPal has no say in the final decision on a credit card chargeback. They will act a middleman but if the credit card company authorizes the chargeback then PayPal has to pay it back. I can't believe though that all these "unauthorized charges" and chargebacks are legit - it's just the buyer backing out. It seems to be a problem that Paypal won't or can't address.
It is true that if you use paypal you are at their hands and they decide what to do and what not to do, the never consult the user and only insult the user in most cases by charge backs. You are not the first to be cheated like this there are tons of cases like this. Do you know the buyer ? Why dont you ask him directly about this?
He was here on DP. Is banned now. Well my main question i suppose is why did they take more money out of my account than what the charge back was? So not only do i feel lied to and played, but now i feel stolen from. They didnt even provide any info, nor any reason as into why they took extra money out. How good is paypal support? I may call them tomorrow and see what the hell they are doing.
Maybe PayPal takes the credit card charge back's fee. I always recommend to use an eccurency without charge backs as HooPay or Liberty Reserve Cheers
Yeah but then again, i didnt do anything wrong. So why i should be fined because someone didnt keep their paypal password safe and bought something from me which i thought was all legit? Makes no sense at all.

Paypal and most other credit card processors charge a fee for every chargeback that's handled. You've basically been charged the handling fee, and yeah sometimes it can be higher than the original chargeback. Unfortuantely theres not much you can do about that, it's just one of the risks assocaited with taking payments sourced from cards. In general I recommend you always withdraw your money from paypal and don't use it like a bank.
Why do you guys keep cash in your paypal ? why dont you move the funds to your bank and cash it out .
man try to call paypal they sure listen to you when make them call The dont reply your emails but surely they listen you on phone
