For the past 3 days my website seems to be off-and-on experiencing delays in PayPal's Instant Payment Notifications (IPNs). Is this a common occurrence for most of you out there using PayPal for real-time order processing? The payments are posting right away in my PayPal account (I see them when I'm logged in), but the IPNs aren't being sent till minutes later. Is this common? I wanted to check because the other option is a problem on the server side, but all system resources seem fine and I've not received any alerts from our website monitoring service about the site being down. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Hello Oasic. Yes, this happens from time to time. There are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of transactions in paypal system each min... That does lead to a natural delay in they system to send out IPNs... But the payment lands your account almost instantly... I dont think there is anything wrong with your server... DL
what is the IPN you are using? custom build or you have bought this from somewhere else? Also free version or lite version?? i am pretty sure you are using this for digital payment, right?
Yes, IPNs tend to get delayed sometimes...though they almost never miss any. I remember several subscriptions were cancelled and no IPNs sent on a day in the past due to PP system errors.
Paypal does have issues with delays with the post back from time to time. Some times it can be almost 24 hours before you see the post back on bad days. The best course of action is to just wait it out it should eventually post back.
