everything looks normal at this end.

I am receiving $500+ payments (just got one yesterday)
I am able to purchase things directly from my paypal funds.
I am not cashing in my paypal money within 7 days.

My paypal account is also looking normal. I think they are implementing it on select group of people to see how it goes on and affects their business also (ebay!).

After that they will think whether to deploy that on all Indian users or not.

I guess he means indian paypal users don't know yet what happens if funds are not withdrawn within 7 days. I guess paypal will start sending reminders to withdraw funds or just do it automatically after 7 days. I doubt paypal will allow sending payments from balance any more. So, everybody will get credit cards now.
good business for indian banks. Its not end of paypal with indians. Paypal is still the best. everybody just have to get a credit card which is very easy to get now but requires atleast Rs 30,000 for fix deposits which small earning indian freelancers were trying to save till now. All biggies already have credit cards and operating normally though they'll also loss some money through credit card charges.

This is interesting. I doubt you can pay through it. But maybe you can credit the b2 account. Pls update us if you can do it.

As per the policy updates of Paypal, if a user fails to withdraw within 7 days, Paypal will automatically withdraw and send the money to the connected bank account. If the amount is below INR 6999, they will charge Rs 50 as usual for withdrawal charges.

    initial-screen.jpg options.jpg

They do allow sending funds via Credit Card (not sure about Debit Card).
    Check Screenshot..

    a) Initial Screen

    b) "More funding options" - the new regulation is displayed.

I dont think there is anything new to panic.. The change is as per the new policy informed to Indian paypal users last month.

P.S. Looks like sending payment via paypal is marginally cheaper than directly paying thru credit card (Credit card companies do charge 3.5% for foreign currency transaction. For 150$ paypal looks cheaper.

    Paypal shows Rs. 6845.38 for 150 US$
    Per Google 1 U.S. dollar = 44.2497456 Indian rupees
    $150 equals INR 6637.46
3.5% foreign currency transaction equals 232.31
Total - INR 6869.77 If sent directly from Credit Card
