Hi im new to paypal so i set one up sunday night and stupid me started to type half my emaill address in the name box i wasnt paying attention had the kids running around had the phone ringing off the hook it was mad but only realised after id gone to the nxt page and saw it asked for email and then i realised dam! i forgot to change it after i finished on the phone but totally went over my head went in 1side and out the other so to speak lol, so a tyred to go back it wouldnt let so i finshed the set up and then somewhere it said i can do a name change by time i found this bit and read how to do it a friend of mine had sent me some money on the off chance it was alreadys et up was only afew pound but anyway i sent them my photo id and a utility bill and heard nothing back i explain it was my fault ect not paying attention bu this morning i got an email sayin they have closed my acount and holding the money for 180days (y so long) and that my appleal was denied?? i never knew i did an appeal i just sent in what they wanted for a name change not an appeal.. just wonder what else i can do as they just keep sending me the same email that theres nothing they can do now.. so if i was to get married etc change all my details its my fault for having my surname changed??? and leads to the cloin my account and placin it under limitation..
You definitely need to give PayPal a call to get some clarification, if your looking for alternatives, then check out Google Checkout.
Below is an email from paypal not really explaining why i cant have a name change through my own silly fault but does mention the money which i didnt, i was annoyed that i sent my personal info in photo id passport and things thinking it would straight forward name change and its not. ive not sold anything boiught anything from this new paypal only had afew quid transferred from a family member.. We are limited in the detail that we can discuss with you surrounding our decision, but I can advise that we will have taken factors into account factors such as the number of buyer disputes, the types of product being sold as well as your ability to provide documentation to us in order to verify your PayPal account activity and financial details, to name but a few. When such a decision is made, PayPal will hold the funds in your balance for a period of 180 days in order to protect ourselves against the risk of reversals and chargebacks (It is 180 days due to this being the maximum timeframe that any buyer has to dispute a transaction with their credit card company, i.e. the maximum amount of time within which funds could potentially be reversed out of your account). After 180 days, if applicable, we'll contact you with information on how to withdraw any money in your PayPal account. You'll be able to transfer money to your bank account or request a wire transfer. You can't withdraw it now because we want to make sure that ther's money in your account to cover any payment reversals.
Ask your client to raise a refund and send it to Paypal. Your client would get the money back and you can open another account in Paypal with correct details. You would need to use different email id. then ask your client to send the money to new account. I hope it can solve your problem. You need to be very careful when you open Paypal Account. Enter your full name as it is in the bank AC.
