So today when i tried to login into my account paypal ask me my birth date and nationality.. Well im above 18 so no probs for me but those ppl below 18 i guess cant use paypal anymore
Initially, you had to be 18 years of age to use it anyway. It's been in their User Agreement for years: Referenced from: https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?...ntent_ID=ua/UserAgreement_full&locale.x=en_US If a person sees other countries' user agreements, then it'll state that their services are not available to minors (under 18). BUT... People 13 years of age and above can get a Student account, which is something new or fairly new: Referenced from https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?...tent_ID=ua/StudentAccount_full&locale.x=en_US It's actually kind of confusing. The eligibility part says a person must have a U.S. PayPal account in good standing and all, in order to get the Student Account. But the other agreement says a person must be at least 18 years of age to get PayPal account. How can a person under 18 be eligible for the Student Account if (according to their initial user agreement) they aren't old enough to get a U.S. PayPal account to begin with? Even though I'm well over 18 (I was with them when they first launched back in 1999), I'm going to email them about that. Because if they are saying that a minor (person under 18) needs to have a family 18 or older maybe have an account first and then they get the Student Account for the minor in their family, then it needs to be clear on that. Otherwise, their user agreement is clashing.
Yes people below 18 wernt allowed from before but they never actually checked and i am sure many had an account too
Yes, I'm sure many minors did. Some have even come to DP to whine about how their account was limited and how they needed help to give false documentation to Paypal. Sad! But now there is a way (well sort of, once they explain the conflicting parts of the agreements I mentioned and provide more clarity) for people under 18 to get accounts without violating their agreements and whatever else.
It's very clear, you just need to read the link you posted. This Student Account Agreement ("Agreement") is a contract between you (the Parent) and PayPal and applies to your use, and the Child's use, of the Student Account and the PayPal Services.
A good point there CU. I too observed the question when I tried to login to my PayPal account yesterday. Looks like this is some kind of one time verification or else security measure which will be beefed up month after month.
yes now they have started asking dob and everything like that because now onwards people under 18 can't use or access paypal anymore.
Well i doubt why they asking nationality again though we supplied it earlier when we setup the account.bw policy changes
Then i don't mind to share my actual details with them I think this is just routine check like domain registrars doing all the time. DON.
Today when I logged in...they asked my date of birth to. I submitted it and worked fine for me. May be they are not starting to get date of birth for every paypal members.
