Paypal has frozen my account. I need some advice. I got a dispute over a payment I received and paypal emailed me and said they thought my account was a security risk and frozen my account. How do I go and unfreeze the account with them. They are asking for paperwork to confirm my identity and asking for my bank details too which I will fax to them, but how do I send money while it is frozen? They basicly said that everything in my account is going to be frozen for 180 days. I am trying to do some google searchs over it, but from what I read I am SOL until they decide to unfreeze my account. What can I do?
Yeah I hate to say it you are basically SOL. I never heard of paypal taking 180 days for an investigation so it must be one heck of a dispute.
http://www.onlisareinsradar.com/archives/002148.php http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message489554/pg1 reading over this give me little hope. They even locked down Ron Pauls fund raising account. If a presidential hopeful account gets frozen what chance do I have. I am so SOL.
You can still send them the necessary paperwork through the resolution center in your account. It should be the first message you receive when you login to your account. If the transaction was legitimate, and you didn't sign up for paypal using false information, there is a good chance that they will unlock your account. Here's an article I wrote a while back on what to do when your account gets frozen: http://www.merchantaccountblog.com/archives/283 Paypal freezes accounts because they are liable for all of the money that people process through them. Let's say you sold $10,000 worth of crap, and withdrew the money and ran off. When paypal gets a chargeback from your customer and they can't get the money back from you, they're stuck with the bill. It's a simple matter of numbers. If they think there's a chance that they may loose money because of a seller, they hold the account to protect their own A$$! The 180 days rule was a Visa and Mastercard chargeback liability policy. Paypal is liable for 180 days past the date of a transaction, so they use this length of time for account holds as well. Login to your account, and follow all of the steps in the resolution center. After a few days they will either decide to release your funds, ask for more information, or permanently hold your account (funds will be released in 180 days).
Just try the advice offered by other people and maybe it will work . Good luck to you. www.china-selller.com
Basically, if Paypal does not trust you or feel that the documents which you provided satisfied their conditions and/or your dealings breaches your contractual agreement or Acceptable Usage Policy, paypal will no longer wants to deal with you. Your account will then get frozen like in your case and the 180 days is so as to allow your customers from doing a chargeback especially in the case of questionable transactions. However after 180 days, you can withdraw any of the balances left in the form of a check or bank transfer using the details you provided online. In all cases, you will be prohibited from opening any new account with them.
Call them. I used Paypal and Itlay and the same thing happened but they didn't ask for any documents. The customer service rep was very helpful. It took about a week.
