I sent $70 to someone but my confirmation email said: You have sent a payment of =2470.00 USD to xxxx Amount: =2470.00 USD My heart stopped until I realized that the =24 was just ASCII code for $. I need a drink.
Well... that was interesting to know, and funny too if you are not the one it is happening to Well, will keep this in mind for the future
Very unusual this is the first time I hear about a transaction of this type. My opinion is always its better to keep some small amount in Paypal to avoid the frustrations.
Yes Its always recommende to have less than 500$ balance in your paypal account As Paypal is now behaving like a sweet dear any more
Have you asked for the refund for the excess money? Just chargeback or open a dispute if he didn't respond.
You will see it if you 'view source' on your 'Your Payment Has Been Sent' emails. For some reason this time my email client showed it as acsii instead of $.
That means bug in your email client BTW always verify amount twice at the time of sending money to anyone is good habit DON.
As they say...Prevention is better than Cure... It is always prudent to keep only the minimum required amount in Paypal to avoid getting into a very large hole due to such mistakes and always double check your input while dealing with money! Regards, RightMan
You would have been more concerned if you had your credit/debit card and bank account linked to your PayPal account!
