according to a customer he does not have the option to pay if he does not have a paypal account after i sent a money request. is this new ? Paypal's website still says the following:
No, your customer does not need to be a paypal member in order to pay you. It has been that way for as many years as I could remember. As long as they have a credit card and comes from a paypal support country, they can pay you through the paypal platform, however as always they are prompted to sign up for an account through their shopping experience but they are not obligated to do so.
they are in the USA. I guess he is not seeing that message or button. It seems to be only this person but I got pp customer service on the phone and they said it could be possible their systems recognizes his email address and/or credit card was used in Paypal for purchases in excess of $4k in the past 3 months and he must sign-up for paypal acct or let 90 days elapse. - interesting though. I didn't want to do the virtual terminal for $30 /month until business picks up. thanks
Are you using a Business or Premier account ? The Link to pay via Credit Card is not quite obvious. On the order page, it would read right on top of the various credit card logos. They are supposed to click on the 'Continue' but on the right hand side is the big login option.
I am using a business account so I don't understand what he sees.. next time I will do a cc money request.
I think next time ask him to do a screen capture so you can see what he sees or sees if he misses anything. Maybe you can set up an exclusive Buy Now button for him, that should do the trick because from what I read from the FAQ which you posted initially, the option to pay via Credit Card without signing up only applies to the Buy Now, Donations and Shopping Cart options. Probably it means it does not work with the Money Request option.
well, i did the way paypal said to do and still I get a password request. go to www dot paypal [dot] com 1.) click on the tab for products and services 2.) in lower left column; click send money 3.) then in right column fill in the form: once going through that, it still asks for a password although he does not want to sign up for paypal. UPDATE: his email address was the problem. changed to a different email and it goes to CC screen option. by the way the Buy Now is not the only option a money request should work too. I do appreciate the help you gave though. thanks
Ah then it is possible that his email address was registered to a paypal account with or without his knowledge.
