We are involved in setting up a new site that allows digital products to be sold between members.

    Now the problem.

We need a system like this:

    1. BUYER sends payment (via paypal or e-gold)

2a. SELLER recieves payment (via paypal or e-gold)

2b. THE SITE recieves a percentage of the payment (via paypal or e-gold)

    3. Digital Delivery is made to the BUYER.

Anybody know how to do this? Is it even theoretically possible, without using a 3rd escrow account?

    Please help.

    Hard to do!

I worked with a similar situation, but it works like this
    1. Buyer sends the payment to OUR SITE paypal account
    2. Site send payments less the site percentage to seller account
    3. Seller delivers

In this case PayPal will take FEE twice.

When buyer send payment to site's paypal and when site's paypal send money to seller.

After that Site will cut FEE. I guess, this is hell lot of burden on buyer. Which may slow down the interest of site members.

    Any other solution?

IMO, you should cut out PayPal/e-gold and process payments directly (there's a small fee), so user submits CC # for charge to your site instead of directly to seller. You can also implement Escrow and better handle returns/claims, somewhat like Abebooks.

or - arrange payment between buyer and your site with pay pal (one fee) and payment between your site and seller's with e-gold (one more but a much lesser fee)?
