I have had the same luck with paypal, but now i use Maxmind fraud detection tool with phone verification on my hosting website and that has saved me lots of money.
At the beginning i was a bit greedy and wasn't verifying orders, that caused me to loose $1800.
Lesson learned, so i suggest to anyone selling goods online to use fraud detection software and also verify orders by phone.

I have been using Paypal since 2001.
I never had any problems mates.
I am always carefull when i buy from ebay.
You should be able to double check anyone before you proceed with the payment.

I am secured with paypal and i will never changed it.
I have also registered with the Escrow service just to have an alternative.

    Regards

I bet you didn't check his iTader first before doing the transaction. Never ever dealing with people that have negative iTrader for high amount of money.

I think it is more likely the buyer that scammed you. Paypal has been having a lot of issues with scammers lately because it is an online site. It is the same with other banks that have online services. Yeah, and I agree with bigbluesky2006. use escrow services to sell websites. I can't tell you how many times I have had 'clients' that appeared legit, but when I mention, escrow services, they disappered. EVERYONE should like the idea of escrow services because it makes sure that the buyer and the seller are protected from fraud. Why wouldn't someone want to use this service? Because they are a scam artists, that is why.

When buying something online, use escrow services for; websites/domain, cars, computers.

Paypal has screwed with me too. They keep changing my password and I cannot access my account until I stay on the phone with 3-4 different departments every time to get it straightened out. Not to mention, I am not able to collect any money while I am down.

I've had similar experience with PP. They act like they own the world and don't care about you at all.

I agree with everyone else it's very easy to dispute a payment on Paypal which is good when you do get screwed over but not if you didn't.

But I think that the fault is shared because the person that bought your site was a scammer but Paypal needs to investigate further to see that he received what he ordered and not find in his favor.

So in the future you should probally use another payment processor for this kind of transaction.

scammer...I totally agree. If you are going to sell a site, use a real escrow service
