Yes, paypal stands on the side of the buyer most always. Be sure to ship a physical product such as a CD that gives you a tracking number as your proof that you did ship something out.

As it is a dispute, the buyer must get the product or service. If he don't get then you have to refund his payment. Refunding will close the dispute.

I have gone through a dispute recently where the product in question was intangible

Buyer filed a complaint against me for not delivering him the product >
then PayPal asks for shipping information which was not possible to give reason being; the product was intangible and doesn't requires a shipping address

Finally, PayPal closed the case in my favor saying that PayPal can't take any responsibility in case of intangible products/services

You have got your money. That is good for you. But you have lost that customer forever(because he was not satisfied, hence there was the dispute). This is bad for you.

Again, not all clients/customers are ethical or honest. This is also sure.

Man, what did you try to mean by "...can don't.."?

PayPal Dispute works only within 45 days. A dispute can not be filed once 45 days mark has passed.

In your case 180 days have already passed, so there are no chances he can file a dispute unless he paid with a Credit Card which allows him/her to chargeback through issuing bank.

It also depends on what kind of item/product you have sold and sent him. If you have all the evidence/proof of sending him the correct item and if it was insured by him, then you are not at fault. Just submit all the evidence by scan to paypal dispute panel and let them take the decision. However 90% of such cases buyer has the advantage, so be very careful in what you scan and send them. Also be in contact with your account manager in paypal, call him by skype, if you are not from the US.

It was nothing more then a battle to get my money back, but it was such a relief to see the money being transferred back into my account

Things like this happens everywhere, whether offline or online world, with that being said not all sellers, neither all buyers are honest ...
