PayPal Dispute Problem!

I hired someone (for $250) to do some html coding for me and unfortunately he scammed me. He doesn't respond via PM, MSN, and email. I filed a dispute and waited 20 days for the seller to respond and he never did. Instead I got an email saying the dispute is now closed for being long then 20 days.

What now? Am I out of $250 just like that? Should I call my bank to do a chargeback?

If you paid using a Creditcard on paypal make a chargeback from your cc company.

I paid 50% upfront initially to get him to start working.

No I didn't, as I was hoping he would respond back but never did.

If you didn't escalate it you are probably out of luck.

You should have escalated it to a claim the day after you filed the dispute and put the details in there.

Man I'm sorry to hear that - the same sorta thing just happened to me here this month. Definitely call your credit card company- and like everyone says you should escalate the dispute next time. Hope you get your money back.

bank dont do chargeback... only credit card payment can be chargeback... so if paypal take the money from your CC then only you can go for chargeback.... otherwise CALL paypal to resolve this issue.... only by calling paypal you can get your money back... at least you can try one more time....

Yes, if you have paid using your credit card, very likely you will get your money back.
Though, could you please tell, what paypal has mentioned while closing their dispute that they couldn't recover anything ?

Yea, I got an email saying that they can't do anything because it is an intangible good.

Going to try calling PayPal this Monday and hopefully they can do something about it. Hoping they can at least switch it to a claim.

yeah, you NEED to escalate it to a claim, otherwise paypal just closes it and assumes you worked it out
