As you all know, paypal is not available for every country in the world as they advertise themselves as worldwide available. Among those countries is my own, Macedonia. Now I don't think I need to advertise how old tradition Macedonia has with its history dating from the roots of humanity, you should all know that Not that only flowers grow here and milk and honey runs everywhere now days, but it certainly is more developed than many of the countries already on the list of paypal supported countries and the development process is accelerating more and more over the last few years. About 5 years ago I wrote to the paypal support about this, and how me and the whole macedonian population would like to use their services, but all I got was an answer saying that its hard to make paypal available to every country, but they are doing all they can blah blah.. So I got tired of waiting and I wrote them again a few weeks ago, and all I got was the same template answer which all of my co-citizens got too when they emailed them. Then someone organized an online petition about it, which was signed by 4000 people(I'm not sure about the numbers maybe more) and was sent to them, but they replied with the same old message only adding that the it depends on the macedonian government which I find a little hard to believe. So what do you guys think I should do? Who should I appeal to? I have some relatives working at the National Bank, on a very responsible position, so do you think I should call them and see if they can do something about it? Or maybe I should spam paypals support email There must be something I can do, at least to speed up the process! I'm really desperate about this, my whole youth is gone and I still cannot use paypal Please, awaiting any kind of discussion and comment about this, thanks!
It is not discriminating. Paypal is a unique money platform and paypal must be able to work with the country's laws, local banking system and obtained the necessary licenses to work on that country. I am very sure that Paypal wants to open up to every country as they have done so with 190 of the 200+ countries. Although Macedonia is an old region, it is only 15 years old as an independent and modern country. Give Paypal several more years and see how it goes. You can also try to lobby your local government to change their banking laws to accept paypal.
No, that was a joke of course just notice the little smiley there Even though lately I'm starting to consider it like a real option
I don't think it's discrimination. Paypal was only recently available in my country after years of online petition. Give it time, I am sure it will become available to your country soon
Ok, so lets assume its really only up to the macedonian government, local laws and banking system. What should I do to affect them to start working on it? Should I email the president and the prime minister? Make some campaign, print some flyers? Organize another petition? Or maybe I should make a youtube video like "Leave Britney Alone"
I think you should just stop and wait it out. PayPal is still expanding so only time will tell when they will support Macedonia. You, and other Macedonians contacting them, will not have an immediate affect on their expansion. Even if PayPal were to finalize their decision to allow Macedonia to use the service, it could still take an unknown amount of time for everything to be 'setup'.
Move to a country with paypal, then you can come back in here and join all the discussions about how much paypal sucks, lol!!!
unfortunately paypal does discriminate in alot of ways. I dont know if its to cover their butts or what. I have had a few people that i needed to send money to and they werent on the supported list.
After living behind PayPal's "Iron Curtain" for a while, we came up with a solution that we're now offering to others. Follow the signature link.
I'd like to introduce some people from countries who can't receive money via PayPal to a part of our program that allows you to surf (and log in to PayPal) as if you were in western Europe. Here's the deal: 1) open to the first 3 Digital Point members with more than 50 posts 2) 24 hours free use of our "Rent-a-IP" service with support 3) sign up by clicking on the link in the signature and sending an email to the address listed on our site with your email and Digital Point username 4) no obligation
Hello spiritfly. Did you know that you can withdraw funds from PayPal to a Visa card now for most countries but it costs about $25! On the main subject, the reason why there is some skepticism about Macedonia is that in general the majority of orders that is coming from that country in credit cards and by IP address are fraudulent. This is no relflection on you as an individual but that is the reality of those people now who are online from your country in the past years. (Other countries with a similar bad reputation that the majority of orders placed from there are fraud are Serbia, Monenegro and Romania.)
Using your "service", is yet another way to get accounts limited if PayPal were to determine how access was made.
It's blocking Slovenia too. I can use paypal but I;m unable to recieve funds. Undoe Slovenia is in European Union and has Euro as currency.
