A year back, a guy on DP bought my signature link for 3 months.

now, he has tried to open a dispute against the payment.

I have got this mail from Paypal:

    what should I be doing?

    yes, I know.

I always ask people to send transaction details while sending a payment.

he is banned on DP now, so can't contact him here.

i think you should do nothing as may be the buyers paypal account got hacked and the hacker opened the dispute, i see no reason why he should open a dispute after 1 year
    it does not make sense

Absolutely nothing, cause after 45 days,if some one try to open a dispute,he can't do that.....:).

But if this thing keep increasing,it is quite possible paypal is going to ask you about it,so be careful when you do business ....

give Paypal enough information to show them you did the service well; any way you'll talk with him in the dispute, if not you'll win :D

No there's no way you can lose money. It says deferred cause paypal is not conducting inquiry into it.
