    i did not knew that currency could be converted in paypal. i stored 500+ AUD when AU & US were nearer. now they became US$300+something.

    so unlucky.

    One has to be really careful in choosing the base currency as fluctuations in exchange rate is really high since last several weeks...

    The best way to mitigate the losses is to keep it in the same currency in which you intend to deal more... :)

    Yes, the PayPal exchange rate will always be lower than the current market rate but am currently happy with the rate.
