Paypal cheated me

I bought a domain nearly $6000 and I paid in UK pounds. Paypal took nearly £3000 equivalent of $6000 from my debit card. Somehow the buyer had to refund the payment and he fully refund the money. But paypal only gave me about £2800 and I lost about £200 just for nothing.

I understand paypal UK and US are owned by same company and why paypal is cheating customers like that.

I am really disappointed with ebay and paypal.

SO BE CAREFUL IF YOU BUY THINGS FROM EBAY IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. PAYPAL WILL SUCK YOU IF THERE IS REFUND CASE.

    PAYPAL JUST SUCKS.

Happened to me, too. Although in smaller amounts so I did not feel it that hard.
Sadly, Paypal conversion rates can hurt if you have to play with refunds where multiple currencies are involved.

By robbing the ebayers, the founder becomes one of the richest men on the world. It is unfair system.

Am I one of the few who has never had an issue with paypal? I hear of al of these limited accounts and such and since I started using Paypal in 2005 I believe not once have I had a personal or business account limited.

Now the currency thing makes sense their conversion isn't 100% accurate with real numbers. But honestly why would you be paying for something with paypal that costs $6000. I'd use another service to do that not credit card or anything of that nature unless you were purchasing from a large business of time guy (I'm thinking retail for say a bunch of computers)

Did they take it as a fee or was it because of the currency exchange rate? The exchange rate changes daily and depending on what country the other person was from, it could be a drastic change in just a couple of days. This is common with any bank anywhere in the world. Before accusing Paypal, make sure that it was not an exchange rate issue.

Well, actually before you start blaming Paypal, Paypal did list clearly that all foreign exchange transactions would come with a foreign exchange fees which you agreed upon.

https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees-outside states that there is a 2.5% foreign exchange fees which is added when you convert from one currency to another.

    From Paypal site :

Counting that the US dollars have been quite volatile in the past few months, it is possible that coupled with the foreign exchange rates and the fees, it could amount to quite a bit.

Paypal did not cheat you, all of which were made clear to you. Even my bank and the local money changer charges a fee for using their services.

I second that. I have never have been stung with paypal. They seem fine to me. I don't know why 'paypal sucks'. To me, it seems like many people are making up their own stories.

there is a 2.5% foreign exchange fees which is added when you convert from one currency to another.

---> So 2.5$ of 6000$ is already 150$ right? You lost 200$ but you did 2 transactions, once you sent and another one is the refund transaction hehe

The fees should seriously be lowered. They have enough paypal customers to have them lowered

PayPal did charged 2.5% but since the original transaction was refunded, the fees was refunded too!

But the daily currency exchange is fluctuating, thats the reason for your lost of $200
