Hi, I wanted to sell a website that I see going for mid-$xxx and wondering about PayPal as the payment processor, with the only problem being their chargebacks. But if I refuse PayPal people will call me a scammer and not bid - so what can I do? Can I provide proof that the buyer has got the website incase a chareback is intiated against me, such as saying "Look PayPal - The WhoIs records clearly state I'm not the owner anymore..." or something along those lines? Also, if someone could answer the following questions about these chargebacks: -How long after the transaction can a chargeback be made? -How do I appeal a chargeback and would I have any chance of winning? Any information greatly appreicated! Many thanks, Will
I used to buy links for my clients and do payments via paypal . We always ask the seller to send an email in form of 4-5 line agreement that he sold a link to us so that we can put chargeback in case we are scammed . You can also do something like that. Ask the buyer to send an email to you that he is hapy with the deal and he knows about all the clauses of deal and deal is completely fair . It also depends on how you put your case in situation of chargeback .I had faced lot of situations like this and had to make compromise with the buyer . Go with that email agreement atleast you would be having some proof in case of chargeback . Thanks Gagan
Gagan, excellent idea, thank you. Could you send me a sample of what you used to sent, or do you know where I could find a legally solid sample to use?
i am happy you like the idea . I also learned it from my client . No need to buy anything . Just put all the important clauses in email . For eg :- while doing a link deal we use the following format Try to make something like this and include everything you feel necessary and make your case as strong as possible Thanks Gagan
Ginger, Escrow.com is too messy for what I reckon and experienced by one and only transaction that I'd tried with them. EscrowDNS.com is one of the most helpful one out there at the moment. Just go with escrow service at anytime when its about secure money! Good luck - Jay M ParkingFirm.com
Their are plenty of sources you can use. PayPal Mass Pay - Since when you use PayPal mass pay, you pay more than one customer at once (though you can do it to one person) that PayPal doesn't allow returns on that, as Mass Pay is only for "affiliate payments" and creditation purposes only so their would be absolutely need in chargebacks. PayPal Fixed Pay - Usually it's for "valued" customers, but you can try to use it. It means all payments are final, and are manually transacted into the accounts through PayPals system, as the system automatically triggers off big payments without confirmation. Though, you agree to a private TOS set by the middleman (PayPal in this instance) and then the payment is initiated. That means, it's a finalized payment and that it can no way 100% can be reversed or cancelled, though usually both companies have definately arranged it and have met up personally, but has been used several times successfully for major selling sites. It's only designed for major payments, such as $10,000+. PayPal will also lower the fee range for you. I'd say for example, If you use PayPal Fixed Pay, and you had a payment transacted for over $100,000 your PayPal fees would be slightly under $1,500 which is pretty decent if you add it up (Under 1.5% fees). These payments cannot be reversed. For example, eBay recently bought the most popular "eBay-like" site in Denmark for $375 million which was transacted through PayPal with this system. (Imagine, $375,000,00 ... :O)
Hello , I thought that you are asking about a method so that buyer can't blame you after a deal if he want or call you a Scammer. But now I realised that you were asking about methods so that you can get money and won't contact the buyer again even if he face any problem Best of luck Gagan
How long after the transaction can a chargeback be made? 2 months -How do I appeal a chargeback and would I have any chance of winning? yes You can win if it's intangible item.
