Is it possible to get a chargeback or dispute from paypal after 1yr? i had a buyer of mine who paid me by paypal (dont know if they used credit card or PP account) and coming back and asking for refund after 15 months? I am not too sure if they can file a dispute or chargeback with paypal after this much time?
Chargeback has nothing to do with Paypal but with the card holder and his bank. If his bank allows him to proceed with a chargeback after 15 months then there is nothing you or paypal can do about it.
Chargeback is done through Credit Card issuing bank, not PayPal. Typically, chargeback period varies from 30 to 180 days.
I heard maximum 6 months chargeback time with credit card? But how it goes for paypal dispute? can anybody file a paypal dispute anytime? if so thats the worst one!
Yep, I don't think he/she can be able to raise chargeback after more than a year, normally CC company accept chargeback within 30 days. However I am not sure the time limit for chargeback when someone pay through paypal rather than CC.
I know the maximum time frame you can file a dispute with paypal is 60 days. So I don't think it can be done after a year has passed.
Strange situation But i also don't think so that he/she can be able to raise chargeback after more than a year. Its very long time. Anyway let us know the outcome if he/she file a dispute or chargeback.
yes REVERSAL is possible even after 12 months..... but i dont know about chargeback.... and i dont think any bank allow chargeback upto 12 months.... normally the chargeback time is 6 months i guess... but not very sure because i have heard that some people have chargeback even after 9 months... so i think after 9 months,, chargeback will be allowed under special condition... so i suggest you ask the customer how he made the payment... also try to find the transaction ID of his transaction and goto open dispute.... and you will see a REFUND option there.... if you see the refund option there on against the transation ID, then it means the payment is still reversable,, but if you dont see the Refund option, that means the payment is not reversable or chargebackable..... and there is nothing the customer can do to get the money back from you i think....
If it took 15 month for him to ask for a refund, chances are he was statistfied with the product but needs money or wants to buy something else. I wouldnt refund.. if it was 2 months, then maybe, but 1 and a half years? nah.
you know last year a customer refund a payment from me after a year and when i ask him why did refund it, he said he is done using the software so he feel like he should refund his money and i lost the paypal fees because of him.... so there is nothing you can do if they reverse the payment...
WOw strange situation . I have never met with this till now . But glad that if this situation arises in my lifetime then I can handle this
i think i save his email somewhere... along with other reversal peoples emails as proof.... but paypal never made the decission on my side....
Are you saying that after one year, Paypal reversed the payment and took the money out of your Paypal account to return to original customer? Was there any warning or did the customer start a dispute? I've never heard of this before, after a year....is this common? Jen
I havent heard of a paypal chargeback after 1 year But I would suggest you to call the Paypal customer service and ask them for any kind of assistance or even an explanation. EDIT If you have negative balance, then according to paypal, the money from your added cc or bank account will be taken by paypal, as simple as that. But if you are in USA, and you have given your SSN and so on.. Then i beleive they can easily send you a bill of some sort.
