paypal can't be counted on

Lately I've had so many customers tell me they refuse to use paypal because they held their money and wouldn't give it them, locked them out, or what not. Is there a paypal alternative? Something similar, not google checkout, anything else?

Can't say I've used it myself, but alert pay seems like a popular one.

I just verified yet again with Paypal after having the same account with them for almost ten years and then they had the nerve to lock it again a few weeks later. And on top of that now they want me to provide even more documents (one of which I don't have). I've had money held by them for a few months now and am actively evaluating other options as well.

Try Alertpay or Moneybookers, but their fees are higher than PayPal

The best alternatives to Paypal are Moneybookers and Alertpay :)
