PayPal API For Site Owners/Publishers

We are setting the framework for some new features for publishers that have to do with how payments are handled. We are going to move payment processing to the PayPal API so publishers can do some more advanced things from within the publisher interface.

    Specifically...
    • Ability to issue full or partial refunds to advertisers from within Digital Point Ads interface.

    • Ability to utilize pre-authorization on payments with capture and settlement processing at a later date. This will be especially useful if you are selling text link ads... An advertiser can pre-authorize a certain amount of funds, but the money only comes out of their account once the monthly auction is over and it could be a lesser amount than their max bid since it's an auction system.

    • Ability for advertisers to pay you with a credit card (even if they don't have a PayPal account).

    • Optional ability to automatically pay amount owed to Digital Point Ads at the end of the money (this will be disabled by default, but you would be able to opt into it if you wish).

The new features are not enabled yet, but as a precursor to those features coming, you can enable the Third-Party API Permissions for your PayPal account(s) now and you won't need to worry about it in the future. You can edit any of your sites to view details on how to do so:

All new publishers since the original post were required to setup the PayPal API when they verified their account, so they should be fine.

If you have been a publisher since before then, and you still haven't added the third-party API stuff, you need to do it now. Transactions are all done via the PayPal API now, so if you have not set it yet, people trying to pay you will get an error.
