Just launched a new business, and I'm wondering if Google Checkout and Paypal is adequate for payment processing, or if I should get a "real" merchant account set up and everything. I know there are people out there who passionately hate one or the other, but how likely am I to lose business by not being able to process cards directly? I'd love to hear your stories on this. Thanks!
paypal basically is cover most of the user. However, by considering other non-paypal user or people from country that not supported by paypal, other option such as google checkout is good. By the way, if you are able to give more payment option such as credit card, it will be always better. For your information, buyer without paypal account can actually use their credit card to pay you through paypal
Using a payment processor like PayPal and Google Checkout will make it easier for you to process payments and not have to worry about security and being PCI compliant. However, if your business expands rapidly you may need to switch directions and setup your own merchant account for credit card processing. This way you can support higher volumes and meet customer demands.
You can implement credit card processing with PayPal Direct, so your clients will pay via cards, but they won't even realize they do it with PayPal. All actions will be performed withing your site. It costs $30/month
