No - the payment will only be accepted if email address used is exactly as registered on the receiving PayPal account. Since PayPal and Google aren't related, they aren't clever enough to spot the relationship between the two address types. I'm always very careful to specify to buyers that my PayPal email addy is '@gmail.com' and not '@googlemail.com'. One to bear in mind for future transactions.

No. You will have to ask them to pay you at

You've registered paypal with googlemail and not gmail

Oh Yes! You can add the @gmail.com account to your Paypal as well if you still want to recieve funds in that way:)

Aren't googlemail and gmail are same? :O

In case if they aren't you can just add gmail one to your PayPal account, then you can request payment on both.

They are the same in the eyes of Google, yes - but we're talking PayPal accounts here and not email accounts.

As far as Google is concerned yes - but PayPal can only receive funds to the exact email address specified on your account. Think of it this way - your email address is a way of distinguishing you from all the other PayPal account holders - it has absolutely no other meaning to PayPal - funds don't literally land in your Gmail inbox, do they?
